But...
the wife.
She just doesn't understand.
I really shouldn't even bring it up until 2013. I'm fairly sure I can swing spending my Pell grant refund on a new platform (community college is cheap), but not until at least Christmas. Meh, I hate to wait that long, but them's the breaks.
I'm definitely getting 64-bit, an i5, and 8GB RAM, but I want to keep it all in a microtower - 14"x14"x7" I really like this case, and I really like my LED monitor (even compared to the 1080p and 1200p LCDs my friends have.) Plus I really haven't even seen the extent of what my 6870 can do. I know you both probably love your dual-card setups, but I prefer to keep it small and strong. Eventually I'll replace my card with an HD 8850 or thereabouts. And get a Corsair Accelerator for speed. 😀

You're good on GPU for all intents and purposes, if you plan to stick with 1080p or below. It is especially solid at 1680x1050. That particular card you have is excellent, actually. Very good upper-mid range card that I don't see you getting the most out of with your current CPU. I would recommend an upgrade at CPU first and foremost. Just that alone would be great.
Shouldn't you have the 64bit disc already? I thought Windows came with both...
BTW, I draw wife-aggro about my hobby as well. "It's not needed." "Grow up." "You have enough toys."
