when i try to copy some mp3's from a cd to my winxp ntfs hd, i get a cyclic redundancy error. has anyone ever gotten this error before or knows how to go around it?

If it was happening on my drive, I would start backing up my data and shop for a new drive or get a replacement. By experience, this is not a good sign.

It's better to be rich and healthy than poor and sick!

it only happens for a few of the mp3's, do you still think it's a bad cd or bad hard drive?

ive never heard of a cyclic redundancy error on a hard drive, only on floppys. if you can copy other files off the cd without the error, it just sounds like a bad burn.

how do you shoot the devil in the back? what happens if you miss? -verbal

Oups...sorry, I just re-read your original post and I thought you were trying to move or access a file on your hard drive. Sounds like a bad burn to me too.
