I have an old Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB with a larger format than the current 2.5/3.5in. (the disc is approx 6x4x1inch ) I am looking for a way to get some of the data from it. Does anyone know of a docking station or other method that would work in this case. S/n 5YD2KAAZ if that is relevant.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Is this your drive;
s-l1200.webp

?

If so, then you can grab pretty much any docking station off the market, akin to this;
https://www.orico.cc/usmobile/product/detail/id/8033

Where are you located, what is your preferred site for purchase and how much have you allocated towards a dock?

I think one of us may misunderstand. Most docking stations are specified as 2.5/3.5 inch. My drive is 4in across. Does a 4in wide drive fit in a 3.5in docking station ?
The P/N (I assume product number) on mine is 9VT156 on the image it is 9TN158. I will research those two to see if they are the same size.

I have looked at my product number and it is advertised for sale at Hard Disc Direct and gives the size as 3.5. This is probably my misunderstanding then - is the 3.5 the size of the disc and not the size of the case?

That is what is known as a
"3.5inch" drive.

The 3.5 nomenclature derives from the platter size, not the box size.

Any 2TB drive you have is in fact known as a "3.5".

A dock like this will work:
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Docking-Station-EC-UBLB/dp/B075GJ3P3B

A cable like this will not work:

That is extremely helpful, thank you.
I currently have several layers of backup - OneDrive, Weekly ... and monthly offsite in case house burns down. My problem was in clearing down old data for my sons who have left home. I burned some to DVD then deleted a folder everywhere else. Later found that the burn failed :-(
This disc is the insides of a Lacie drive that was unusable under Win 11 ( Lacie software issue with fixed IP address and replacement DNS in router!) so its the last place where the data exists.
Lesson - read a DVD once created to see if the data is really there!!!!!
Again - many thanks for the information - onward we go with a dock.
