Hi guys,

So recently, I had an issue where my PC would boot up, begin loading the OS and then reboot suddenly. I did a lot of testing and eventually concluded it was the PSU as I plugged it into another machine and had the same issue.

However, after an hour of testing (so quite a few reboots), my computer instead began to hang instead of rebooting. None of the peripherals would work but the fans would spin up and the lights would turn on.

I now have a new PSU but I am still experiencing the same issue as above which leads me to believe either my motherboard or CPU is dead AS A RESULT of the faulty PSU during my testing. Tried the PC speaker but it doesn't give me any beeps.

A friend of mine insists its the motherboard - is there any way I can check to be sure? I don't have another system to test the CPU or motherboard unfortunately.

EDIT: I don't know how important this is, but the last message that came up before it started hanging was something about overclocking and the CPU - my CPU was in fact overclocked but it was the built-in Intel boost one.

You will need the compatible cpu/MB to test, if you don't have the compatible parts, you should go to local PC shop ask for help.

All good, it was neither. I bought a new CPU and motherboard since I needed an upgrade and it still didn't work. Turns out one of the RAM sticks was faulty, which was surprising as the speaker didn't beep at all to suggest it was the RAM.

Thanks anyway.
