[citation][nom]Nightsilver[/nom]How exactly do you lose valuable data from a failed motherboard? I guess if you were in the middle of something when the motherboard failed or something, but you wouldn't be set back that far.[/citation]

Well, when you consider that the "average" computer user doesn't know you can pull the hard drive to keep your data, and instead throw the broken piece of crap away when they buy their new piece of crap............

Well what do you expect from a company in a capitalist world? Capitalism thrives off of greed and capitalizing on the situation and on others so in this case of Dell having faulty hardware do you really expect them to do the right thing which would cost them money? They simply did the capitalist thing to do. Capitalism destroys morality and forces the majority of the world to be in poverty and really become slaves to the "elite".

IBM had the same issue with a bad batch of Netvista desktops. Just like Dell they admitted no fault and extended the warranty of the machines. At least they replacement motherboards I installed used different capacitors.

HP had this exact same issue in the early 2000 or maybe even 97-98. My D-Link Router has the same issue as well but it only has 1 capacitor in it.

Hard caps are the way to go.

they have known about this for a long time..

Lesson learned.. DONT BUY DELL, because along with other brand names, they are crap and sell you the lowest quality shite they can and gauge you.

Now how could that be when the conservative Christian right - who certainly must be very moral - so stongly support capitalism and business interests. Christ taught people to be honest (and not even think of lying), to love one another and that the most important quality was charity - true love for others. Certainly the Christian right would support and defend a system only if it encouraged Christian values, and not if it encouraged selfishness and greed.

[citation][nom]ssddx[/nom]I never did like the idea of a dell branded custom motherboard. I'll stick with trusted brands that use 100% japanese capacitors. If dell wants some respect back they need to step up on their game.. in a major way. If not, someone will just take their place.[/citation]

But those failed Dells did have 100% Japanese capacitors, 3 different brands, and one of the brands, Nichicon, was incorrectly manufactured from 2002-2004 and always failed. The other 2 Japanese brands, Rubycon and Matsushita (now Panasonic), have been much, much more reliable.
