Dell inspiron laptop keyboard not working

I have a dell inspirion keyboard that is not working. The mouse and everything is functioning fine.

its just a laptop that isn't hooked up to any peripheral. It's my mother's laptop.

i had the wrong term see under system for the device driver if the keyboard got a ? mark.

buy one according to the model

then open the laptop

then unscrew keyboard

then take the ribbon cable out

install new keyboard ribbon cable and screw new keyboard in

tada
