If I delete a icon I don't use off my desktop, it also deletes from the other
users. I thought we could each put whatever we want on our user screen
without affecting everyone else. Can only find info about backgrounds or
pictures, etc.

Hi,

The file is here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

You want to copy it to the local user folders for those who want it:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Desktop

Depends if the icon is in the desktop folder for "all users"; removing it
from there affects all users as you might expect, and is the problem you are
having.

There is also a folder for each user's desktop and this is where "personal"
icons would be stored.
