[citation][nom]pomop[/nom]People talking about the RMAH.. stop it. Jesus christ, you guys are acting like kids about it. Honestly think about the real money auction house. There are millions of players all finding the same or relatively same powerful gear. At most, a perfect item is going to fetch a few dollars. It's not going to be some insane multi million dollar get rich quick scheme. They're better off just using the gold auction house. I know many players like myself that will not use the RMAH, regardless of how cheap an item is. Few things that have been said - SC2 was offline. You were perfectly capable of logging in the game with no internet connection and playing the campaign. - The servers now are stable. There are some issues of rubber banding that get annoying, but usually occur far from eachother to be noticeable. The beta was also not nearly a good way to showcase the game. Blizzard did it perfectly in my opinion. They had the beta as a beta. It was not a selling point to get people interested, it was a beta. I'd say getting to the skeleton king is the second most boring part of D3, that combined with having few skills made the beta not a great selling point. The game itself is amazing; if you're not playing it because of some strange reason, you're missing out. Point of the second half - Always remember that a beta means nothing more than a beta. It's not some sneak peak into what they game is going to be like. Also the error 37 during the first two days was blizzards way of dealing with the billions (figuratively) of people logging in at once. Instead of having the server authenticating each and every person, it only did it for X amount of people, and those with 37 just relog. Quick and easy. Less than a minute spamming log in and you were in.[/citation]
And all the people being hacked? Even people with authenticators?
Let's face it, Blizzard made a HUGE mistake by crippling the authentication system by not having it ask every time for the authenticator when it believes your account is being logged into from the usual location. Now, instead of man in the middle attacks, gold sellers and hackers now just have to set up proxy based attacks fooling Blizzard's log in system to think your account is being logged in from the same IP address. NO one asked for this "feature". People who bought the keychain authenticator or downloaded the app did so because we wanted additional security. Not a single person ever asked that the security be crippled in the way Blizzard did it.
And the RMAH does not deter gold sellers, it in fact encourages them. I will guarantee you if there were prisoners playing WoW for gold to sell there are just as many if not more playing for items in D3 to put on the RMAH to sell. So instead of server time and bandwidth being taken by people who wish to play the game for fun, now have to compete with those just out to make a dollar, and they have to compete with these people for server controlled drop rates.
And Activision Blizzard has no incentive to stop it. They get a cut of the sale which is really the ultimate goal, not to provide a complete, satisfying gaming experience.
