Because most gamers foolishly believe that most game developers/publishers are still trying to make the best most fun games possible. This is partly true but mostly they are just doing what will net them the largest profits and that doesn't necessarily mean make the best game possible.

Video gamers are not the most irresponsible consumers in the world, they are on average the dumbest. Just browse any game forum in existence and it will testify to the stupidity and mental retardation of the average gamer. Easy money.

I think Blizzard is about to get punked:

From the Torchlight 2 Steam page:
Multiplayer - Play co-op with your friends via LAN or over the Internet for free. No subscriptions, no item sales. Our new matchmaking service lets you find friends, start new games, and join existing games. And, as always, you can play single-player offline as well.

I swear to God this is the only reason I didn't yet buy this game. The only single reason is the online DRM system that, no matter what, is a royal pain in the ass - and Blizzard has proven that fact as clearly as it could have ever been proven. Get rid of this nonsense and I will buy the game.

To bad .....to sad. Love the internet connection requirement. I don't have to play it more than 2 or 3 hours at a time. game its so simple and makes you wait to play it on server down days. I get to get up my a$$ and do something else besides being glued into a game like going for a 8 mile run on the park or talking to my wife or actually getting the frak out of the house lol ...i live to play ..not ..play to live ...sad for most addicts the later is true ...

I don't think Blizzard will bother us regarding this petition. The D3 is selling like hot cake everywhere. We are just a small group of fans who demand offline mode, in other words we are just a small market, we are expandable. Blizzard won't reaaly care about us.

[citation][nom]shadowkazama[/nom]The people who pirate this game still can't play. The items, Mob AI and some other stuff is all done server side. That is what makes it such effective DRM compared to say... Assassin's Creed. That game you had the everything on your computer, the server was just use for authentication.I do hope that they (though unlikely) will listen to the fans and add an offline option. Just make the gold and RMAH usable for on-line. They did separate the D2 characters after all.[/citation]
if you can pirate a online game to be offline game, then you can also add the AI, drops, items, etc on the offline game library. Better yet, you can host your own private server with real money AH! WOOT!

Lol, petition for an "Offline Patch" (I see what you did there...) Hehehehe...
If Blizzard gave it to them, they're basically saying "Ahoy Pirates, I gave ye yer freedom to pirate our games." Or a "Blizzard-sanctioned Crack"

What really blows is that this is the first time I've ever played anything that had to be connected online. I've had my account hacked twice, the hacker has my account banned and I'm still getting no where with Blizzard techs. I will never buy their product again or for that matter endorse it. I can spend my money better elsewhere.

but what the people cant afford to upgrade the game,
if this game will continue online.
