Hi, I'm hoping someone can assist me.
I have 2 pc's I'm looking to direct connect via USB.
Do you have to buy the special USB cable for this, or is there a way I can make one?
One is win2k and win98se2.

It would make sense to do this, but I've never seen it done. I mean, people used to hook computers together with a serial cable, didn't they? My first impulse was to say get a pair of USB NICs and a crossover cable, if you insist on using the USB ports and spending a hundred bucks. Or you could spend half of that and get a pair of NICS and the crossover cable. The NICs would move the data faster than your USB bus. You'd learn a bit of networking along the way and be ready for the day you get broadband.
Go for the network cards!

You can buy a couple D-Link net cards for $15 each and get a crossover cable for around $20. Or, if you don't want to have to install software you can spend a little more and buy a special USB networking cable which has a networking module with it. I'm not sure what they cost but I've heard they're under $100.
