Question Disabling TPM in BIOS, but No Option Available. Looking for Alternative Methods

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to disable TPM on my laptop, but my BIOS does not provide an option for it. I've already tried several methods without success. Maybe someone has an idea on how to bypass this?

Attempts & Issues So Far:​

  • My BIOS is highly restricted and does not include a TPM disable option.
  • I tried to disable it using a bootable USB stick (Smokeless and Rufus), but either the folder was deleted, or it disappeared after restarting.
  • BitLocker triggered every time I made a change, which made me suspect that it was resetting TPM. I have now disabled BitLocker, but the setup no longer appears, so I can't test it again.
  • Secure Boot is already disabled, so that shouldn't be the issue.
  • A Linux Live version attempt didn’t work, as the changes were only stored on the USB stick and not applied to the system.
  • I was advised to remove my laptop's battery and perform a CMOS reset, but I'm unsure if that would help.
  • I'm questioning whether it's worth the risk, as it seems I would have to take extreme measures just to disable TPM or unlock hidden BIOS options.
  • I’m aware that many laptop manufacturers intentionally impose these restrictions, probably to ensure compatibility with Windows 11, which requires TPM 2.0.

My Questions:​

  1. Is there a way to disable TPM via a bootable medium or other methods without deleting it?
  2. Would a BIOS update help, or do newer versions also lack this option? (I don’t think it would, but I’m unsure.)
  3. Why does TPM keep resetting itself?
  4. Has anyone had experience with a CMOS reset on restricted BIOS versions? Could it help?
  5. Is there a safe method to unlock hidden BIOS options?
  6. If someone could explain why the setup is no longer listed in the boot settings when using Smokeless, that would be helpful. I suspect it has been removed or blocked since I recreated the USB stick and it still doesn’t appear. If that’s the case, is there a way to unblock it?
If anyone has a solution or has experienced something similar, I’d really appreciate your advice!

At first, I just wanted to disable it, but since it turned out to be more difficult than expected, I became more interested in whether I could actually do it, how it works, and if I could find a way to make it happen. I want full control over my own hardware and don’t want certain security modules to be automatically enabled without the option to disable them. I understand the security benefits of TPM, but in my case, I don’t need it and simply want the option to turn it off.
 
Unfortunately, my BIOS is very restricted, and I don’t have access to those settings. I tried doing it from my USB stick, but I think it has been blocked now(setup). I can send you pictures if you want, so you can get a better idea of the situation.
