Do I need a monitor plug if I have PCI card

Hello,
HI, Bought a new HP s5730f desktop on start up, the monitor light went to blue then it said, going to sleep and then screen went black and orange light came on. The monitor works fine with my old machine. Last week I bought a computer from Walmart and it did the same thing, so took it back, thinking it was defective. My monitor is a hpf1903 and is 8 years old. Can you help Thanks

Does your new PC have two connectors for monitor?

You may very well need a converter. DVI to VGA i think!

Yes, my computer has a dvi and vga pluggin. We used the dvi.

Can you please try your monitor with a computer/laptop known to work perfectly fine. There's a chance your monitor may have died. Other than that, it could be a DOA graphics card on the computer you bought.

Try the VGA. It just might work.
