I have a pre built pc ( z220 CMT) and I want to upgrade my graphic card to GTX 1060 windforce oc 6gb. My PSU does have a 6pin and 400w. But im still in doubt if the graphic card will work in my pc.
my current pc specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
RAM: 8gb DDR3
System: Windows 8.1 pro 64-bit
Graphics card: ASUS Radeon R7 240 oc 4gb
PSU: I think it's this one. Not sure. https://www.ebay.com/p/Genuine-HP-Z210-Z220-Workstation-CMT-Tower-400w-Power-Supply-PSU-619564-001/1950250660
I'm just worried that it's not gonna work. So pls help.

Solution
If it has the 6 pin and it fits in that case , should work.

Re: GTX 1060 and HP Z220 CMT?

In the meantime I purchased a GiBy6GB D5 GTX 1060 G1 card and it works great in the Z220 CMT. One should order a PCIe 6 to PCIe 8 adapter with the card, since the card has the newer 8 pin connector and the Z200 only has the 6 pin version. This does however not seem to be a disadvantage. I used the card for about five hours under heavy load and neigther does it get too loud nor show any other misbehaviour. Which is great, because I love my Z220, it is extremely reliable and still fast enough, and with the GTX 1060 a...

Yes, most likely. Delta is one of the better PSU makers on the market, and workstation/server PSUs are often higher grade than most consumer grade PSUs. So Delta OEM PSUs for workstations and servers are pretty decent.

If your 400w PSU is the standard Delta PSUs that they put inside HP Z200s series, then it should be able to power a GTX1060 easily. Open up your computer case and look at the label - does it say 400w output and/or combined 33 amps on the 12v rails? If it does, then that means it can do 33 amps/400watts on the 12v rails alone.
Now calculate how much watts your components use. Your CPU (3770) uses 80-90 watts max. The GTX1060 uses 130-140 watts max. Your motherboard uses 30 watts. DDR3 RAM uses 3 watts per stick. Harddrives and DVD drives uses 5-10 watts each.

Add that up and you're at maybe 260-270 watts max, with most of that on 12v rails. Since your PSU has 400watts on the 12v rails alone, you have more than enough juice.

So if I buy the same one its gonna work cause we have the same setup basically. im just in doubt about the size.
