[SOLVED] Does my CPU "bottleneck" my GPU?

I'm using an Intel Core i7 6700k at 4.3Ghz and a RTX 2080 TI.

In some games my CPU usage is around 90 - 100% while my GPU doesn't get hit really.

(Battlefield V: CPU 90 - 95% usage, GPU: around 50% usage)

Is something wrong with my PC, is my CPU bottlenecking or is it just Battlefield V which isn't optimized very well?

4 cores and 8 threads are not quite what they once were, with some action packed scenes tanking the minimum frame rates....especially with modern games ...

Acceptable minimum FPS (be it 1% lows or .1% lows) mean more much more than average fps nowadays.... Better to hover at 80-90 fps always than have 120 fps average, but, minimums tanking to 30 -40 fps

Both BF1 and BF5 both seem to thrive on at least 8 'true' cores...as evidenced by the 9700Ks very good stats in both games. Even the 7900X/9900X with 10 cores/20 threads did very well in BF1 testing a couple years ago...

(On a side note, reviews a few years ago pitting the 6700K and the 7700K had both hitting 4.7 GHz with minimal fuss given decent cooling. (mine hits all core at 4.7...

When you say some but you list only one. List your specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

Where did you source your games from?
CPU: i7 6700k
Motherboard: Asus z170 Pro gaming
Ram: 2 * 8gb DDR4 (no idea which model etc.)
SSD: OS is on m.2 SSD, Games are on normal SATA SSD
GPU: Gigabyte AORUS RTX 2080TI XTREME
PSU : 680W
Chassis: Sharkoon T28
OS: Windows 10 Home

On low then no wonder, there isn’t enough load on the gpu and the cpu will struggle to keep up. Turn the settings up and you should be able to get high usage on both cpu & gpu.
I just maxed pretty much everything out. In Spawn the GPU usage was around 70% with about 120fps.
But when i was somewhere where's a lot of action my frames dropped to about 60fps consistently, GPU Usage at 40% and CPU usage 95 - 100%.. :( wtf?

(mine hits all core at 4.7 GHz on default voltage with MCE enabled and max all-core tweaked up from 4500 stock to 4700 with Intel's excellent XTU.... Maybe your 6700K mnight have another 10% in clock speed potential untapped that might help)

So should i also upgrade my CPU? I just upgraded my GPU and with my old 980ti i had better performance when there's a lot of action :( Just when there's no action at all i have much better FPS it's very strange

unfortunetly that would mean you would need to upgrade at at least a 8th gen core i5 CPU which you would need a new motherbord. your ram will work though so your open to explore a ryzen combo too
Sorry if that question might sound very dumb, but couldn't i slap an i9-990k on my current Motherboard? i7 6700k and i9 9900k both use LGA1151 right?
