does this have anything to do w/the PSU?

Sometimes I will be playing a game and the computer will suddenly just 'crap out' I guess... screen turns black, sometimes makes funny beeping noise coming from the system speaker and/or mobo (not my normal speakers) and just stops. This is always while playing a game. I think it may be an overheating problem but I am not sure. Happens mostly in Half-Life 2 and Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, sometimes others. Any thoughts?

Goto your BIOS right after the crash, and post your temps.

Black screen? If you have EQ enabled are those alarm noises you're hearing after crossing thresholds?

Well the temps are a bit high and I had another post about that. Afterwards its around 57C for processor, and I have a mobo monitoring utility and it often gets up to around 65. My CPU alarm temp is set at 65. So I'm thinking its that, but not really sure. I have a 380W PSU and my specs are below. Also I wonder if my graphics card overheats cause this always seems to happen during 3D games, not video editing or what not. Thanks!

Irrigation makes land or objects wetter. Ventilation makes air move. To each his own. I just don't want any water in cases unless you read http://www.overclockers.com.

My favorite is the house fan test. Point a fan at the case with the side pannel off. If its cooler you need better ventilation.

lol on the irrigation :) Yeah thank you for the tips. Well, I got a couple 120mm fans and put those in. As it turns out the one 120mm fan that had been in there stopped working for some reason, even though the case is only 3 months old... ok. Anyway so I got these two fans in there now, on in the front and one in the back, and my temps are about 15C lower under load, which is great. Except now my computer sounds like a freaking vacuum and I can hear it from the living room. Well, it WAS the world's quietest case... I plugged both fans into the full power plug (maybe this isn't neccessary?), and the store didn't have any of the Antec fans, which I don't know if those run quieter or not but yeah...

Want quiet? Get a 12 or 14cm power supply (single fan) with adjustable knob. Sparkle (fortron), coolmax, and superflower are all pretty quiet and will draw warm air away from your cpu. I use no additional case fans, and my cpu temps range from 41-56 celcius. You can also use an rpm adjuster for the cpu fan. Set it at 2500-3300. They sell for about $5.

I love my Sonata case. :) But it sounds like you just picked up two 120mm fans at random. I'm sure that there are quieter fans out there. Here's my current list of 'quiet' 120mm fans.

I'm contemplating getting two SilenX 120mm 14dBa 58CFM fans for my Sonata. They come with silicone screw replacements much like the Sonata comes with. Those do seem to reduce fan noise.

But since you have a Sonata case, you can hook your fans into the fan only plugs and this should help reduce the fan noise. That's what they're there for. :) If it doesn't work out you can always move them back onto noisy full power.
