I have the cisco rv082 dual wan router. I'm using the isps comcast cable and verizon dsl. Comcast cable in wan 1 works perfectly, I have no issues with that. Wan 2 is the problem.

Verizon is hooked up in Wan 2 through their actiontec GT784WNV router. I've enabled rfc1483 transparent bridging on the actiontec. Verizon is PPPOE here on the east coast. I've entered the information on the cisco router.

The IP is connection is recognized on the Cisco router.

WAN1
IP Address : 68.33.x.xx
Default Gateway : 68.33.2.1
DNS : 75.75.75.75
Dynamic DNS : Disabled

WAN2
IP Address : 108.34.xx.xx
Default Gateway : 10.4.53.1
DNS : 71.242.0.12
Dynamic DNS : Disabled

When I unplug the wan 1 connection, wan 2 only recognizes some things. I am able to go to google.com, but no other websites. Skype connection and chat seems to work also.

So I am online, but unable to do anything.

I've tried turning the firewall to low settings on verizon's actiontec router. I've fiddled around with port protocol on the cisco too and still haven't been able to connect to anything.

I don't know if the issue is with the actiontec router, the cisco router, the gateways, submasks, the ports, or some sort of protocol.

A fix would be more than greatly appreciated!!!!!

i think it has to do with the actiontec router.... so far its very unresponsive to settings i put into it. it randomly resets on its own and is inconsistent in it's internet feed when directly connected.

calling verizon.. i'll post if getting a new verizon router resolves the issue.

Always possible. You don't HAVE to use the Actiontec router if they gave you an Ethernet hand off (especially if you don't have cable boxes). If they gave you a Coax connection to the Actiontec, that's a separate issue.

They didn't give me an ethernet hand off.

The new actiontec router hasn't solved anything.

I'm not sure if the problem lies in the actiontec settings or the rv082 settings.

I have no idea what's wrong. All I can think is the DNS servers, gateways or submasks are messed up?

Either that or the firmware for the rv082 is shitting on me.

i dont get an ip when i bridge via dhcp....

still able to connect thru the cisco to google and skype while using transparent bridge, but nothing else.

i tried setting the cisco gateway to 192.168.2.1 since the verizon can only pick up the net at 192.168.1.1

i talked to verizon for 30 minutes and they said they ran a test and everything was working.. they said that the problem was with the cisco router, not the verizon.

i talked to cisco tech for 2 hours and they were unable to resolve it with multiple people trying to troubleshoot it.

either this router is incompatible with verizon or the firmware is bugged... thats all i can figure.....

there's gotta be a better dual wan router out there
