My brother has just bought an Abit KT7 AR mobo and a Duron 700. We have increased the FSB to 120 therefore running at 840mhz. A few questions:

1.What is the maximum temp that a duron can acceptably run at? This one seems to idle at 32c and rise to 44c after 10mins of counter strike.

What is the best cooling product, an orb, a fan, and what make? Do they rate them by the reduction in temperature they can acheive?

2.Is there a program that tests processors for reliability once they have been o/cd?Or at least one that puts 100% cpu load on.

3.We are running 100mhz sdram, does it slow the system that much.(We are ordering Crucial Cas 2 sdram, but the mobo says it does not support registered or ECC memory, why is that?)

4.Also, is the Sparkle MX card ne good, it is very cheap compared to other MXs (71 as opposed to 91)

1. That temp is no problem, actually quite good. I'd suggest an Alpha or GlobalWin FOP, Orbs look pretty but according to Toms review its performance is not impressive.

2. Play some heavy 3D games for a number of hours, like quake, or run some cpu benchmark programs. If there's no hangups its pretty much ok.

3. IMO, the difference is very small, expecially when your FSB is already 120.

4. Not sure.

Final suggestion, you can overclock much more by raising multiplier instead of FSB. Getting to 1GHz wouldn't be a surprise.
