Specs:
Duron 700@950 solid 1.83v
Asus A7V 1005a
Infineon 128MB
Won't Boot at 133x7.0

It won't boot with anything past 115 with any multiplier
Is it the AGP?

btw, does anyone have an A7V with top voltage of 1.83v?

Thanks

You should feel lucky. I hardly ever see people get over 110. Most people change the multiplier not the bus speed to overclock.

Of course your duron won't boot with cpu internal bus at 133. It's only rated at 100Mhz. The highest most people can get is around 110.

Only Dram speed should be set to 133, and only if you have pc133 ram.

If you have pc100, you'll only be able to run ram at 100Mhz.

IT WILL NOT BOOT WITH 133 FSB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO WAY , SO SORRY, WHAT EVER YOU DO TO THE MULTIPLIER.
ONLY THE DRAM TIMING SHOULD BE SET AT 133.
CPU CLOCK SHOULD BE 100MHZ, MAYBE YOU COULD GET 110 WITH LUCK, BUT NOT MUCH HIGHER.

AND THE MULTIPLIER IS IS IS IS THE BEST WAY TO OVERCLOCK AN AMD SOCKETA PROCESSOR. YES YES YES.

THE VIA KT133 CHIPSET CAN'T HANDLE MUCH MORE THAN 110 FSB IF YOU ARE LUCKY.

Whoa... don't yell :)

No, nothing shows on screen at bus speeds anything over 115 on my system. I'm not sure about the stability. But FYI, I underclocked it by setting the multiplier way low and it won't give for anything past 115MHz. 10x 10.5x seems to give my Duron a problem. So the highest I can go is about 950. Putting the bus at 103 seem to cause program errors in Windows 2k. I think Win98 wouldn't even load cause of a protection error.

I'm using PC133 Infineon Ram. I don't think it's much use setting the DRAM to that speed... well it does run at the speed of the bus or 4/3 of it. If you put the bus way up, it'll run the ram way out of spec.
I'll modify the board for more voltage when my warranty ends =)

Ok ok,i'm sorry :) bad day, nuthin but rain rain rain here.

K, here's the deal. I had an a7v as well. Great board btw.
This is how you should set it.

First of all, the VIA chipset was never meant to go much higher than 115 FSb on the INTERNAL cpu setting for the a7v bios. There is NO WAY you'll get much higher than that.

Set cpu internal frequency to 100. It's the most stable at that speed and all pci/agp cards will run at default speed as well as memory.

Dram timing is set INDEPENDANTLY. Definitely set it at 133. That is what it was made to do.

Set multiplier at 9.5 x 100, or 10 x 1000 if you can get that. You'll probably have to max out your voltage to get that, which is 1.85, no matter what the probe or bios says (although they are close, they aren't THAT close +-0.02 at least). I had my TB800@950, 100*9.5 at 1.85 for as long as I had it.
I bumped it up to 978Mhz by going to 103 FSB for awhile, but that was all she could take.

Like some sone said the VIA chipset was never meant to go above 100Mhz, unless the 440BX days, and unlike the AMD 750 days.

Best regards

only if your mb has the kt133a northbridge (which your's doesn't) will you be able to hit 133mhz fsb.
consider yourself lucky to get 115.
the only thing left is to close the l1 bridges and up the multiplier.
good luck.
