I have searched high and low on the internet but I can't find actual stores that actually sell the hardware and media to burn a DVD-9 disk. I have read a lot of information, but I can't find the physical stuff. Is it just not available to the public? Or is it far to expensive so it isn't readily available. How much does it cost if it is available. I thought I would be able to find something.

For the purpose of perhaps someone reading this post here instead of the CD rom section I have added my response to this dual x-post here as well.

No DVD writers can burn DVD9 discs and they are pressed to make the dual layer as far as I know. The machines that make DVD9 would be mega expensive and only affordable by big production houses.
You can use a few programs such as <A HREF="http://www.dvdxcopy.com/" target="_new">DVD-Xcopy</A>, <A HREF="http://www.dvd2one.com/" target="_new">DVD2ONE</A> and <A HREF="http://www.dvddecrypter.com/" target="_new">DVD decrypter</A> which are all excellent in making a DVD9 dual layer DVD into one DVD5 (4.7GB DVD disc)and are my personal favorite programs. I also use the latest Nero burning software, real easy.

You can find more info here at <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/guides?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=&osselect=&howtoselect=6;30&search=Search" target="_new"> DVDRhelp.com</A> and also <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/144206.php" target="_new">here</A>.
Once you have figured out the way you want to do it you can get most of the tools/programs <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools" target="_new"> here.</A>
