dvd help?

Hi all, i am going to buy a dvd drive soon but i am unsure of which one. I was thinking of a 12* memorex are they any good? I was also thinking of the specs i need, i have a duron 600, 128mb, sb live value and a tnt2 ultra, this should be ok right? I have never used a dvd drive before and i would be greatful if someone could tell me which software to use and which resolution to run it in.

You can find a Toshiba DVD 16X drive for $111.95US. They are also currently offering free shipping. I doubt you will find a better deal. You don't need any software to use a DVD drive if you have Win98 or later.
If you want to play DVD movies, you will need a decoder, either software or hardware. Your system is probably fast enough for a software decoder though a hardware one would probably give you better quality. Some DVD drives are bundled with a decoder card.
