Explorer.exe

The instruction at
"Oxfea10df6 referenced memoery at,
The memory could not be read.

Click ok to terminate the program.

This message appears everytime I log into windows, I use a stand alone
desktop Pc in the house and this message has only recently started to appear.
Im inclined to think that it's a virus, due to the fact that after having
selected "ok" to terminate the program the screen refresh's and then the
message is displayed again. No matter what I do I cant seem to remove this,
and aslong as the message is on the screen I cant access any other programs.
To make the problem worse it happens in safe mode aswell, and I have tried to
restore the computer to an ealier point but when I try to do so Im told that
I have never set a restore point,"which i do every fortnight". So please can
any one offer me some advice on how to solve this problem or at least point
me in the right direction. Thank you.

You might have a faulty memory chip. Try testing your RAM memory with
this utility: http://www.memtest86.com/
