[SOLVED] First time Intel build not sending signal to monitor

My son and I just completed a Intel build (we are first timers). Everything seemed to be going fine until we attached the monitor and started up the PC. Seems like there is power to the mobo with both the CPU fan and the case fan running. I’ve tried pulling out the GPU, no change. I’ve tried both mem sticks alone in each slot. No change. I’ve tried pulling out the battery from the mobo to reset the CMOS. Nothing. I’m at a complete loss. Appreciate any insight at all. Judging from the other threads I read I am not getting any POST. Monitor is a Spectre brand and have tried connecting with both an HDMI cable and a DP cable.

Gigabyte H310M A 2.0 motherboard
8th Gen i3 CPU
16Gb (8x2) Patriot DDR4 Ram
EVGA 450BR power source
PowerColor Red Dragon RX579 GPU
WD 1TB SATA Drive

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Looks to be a RAM problem then-CPU is supported by mobo-GPU disconnected entirely
In Gigabyte's website, it says this all about the RAM
  1. 2 x DDR4 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory
  2. Dual channel memory architecture
  3. Support for DDR4 2666/2400/2133 MHz memory modules
  4. Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules (operate in non-ECC mode)
  5. Support for non-ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8/1Rx16 memory modules
  6. Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules
    * To support 2666 MHz or XMP memory, you must install a 9th or 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i9/i7/i5 processor.
Do you have 2666 MHz or higher RAM?
2666Mhz and higher is NOT supported by i3s.

Did you connect the CPU power connector (the connector with 8 pins that split off into 2 4pin connectors and the GPU power connector?

Not at first! I thought for sure that was the problem. The board only has a 4 pin connection for the ATX 12V so only one of the two CPU power connetors is plugged in. I don’t have the GPU installed right now. Figured would be simpler to get things rolling using just the motherboard.

Does your mobo include a PC speaker? (the tiny circle connected to wires)
Try connecting that to your mobo in same place you plug in your power and reset buttons/lights and see if you hear anything.

I see. I was under the impression that the 2666 would work with i3, just would clock down to the CPU max of 2400. That could be my problem.

On the money with the diagnosis that the i3 8100 doesn’t support 2666. I bought 16gbs of 2400 and it worked like a charm! Build finished. Op system installed. Thanks!
