Hello,
I have a Celeron 2.8 Ghz system with 256 MB RAM, and a Radeon 9200 SE Video
card. I have been getting very poor performance with my flight sim. Most
notably, the lighting is weird (flashes of light on the fuselage), very
blocky and jagged scenery, slow fps etc. Also, downloaded aircraft make the
graphics even worse. I've tried all different display settings. I have also
downloaded the FS2004 update (9.1).

What could be the problem? My system specs seem to be far above the minimum
required specs.

I tried sending Microsoft Support an email but i cant find my PID. Where can
i find it?

Appreciate any help.
TX.
Shar.

It seems that you need to at least update your video card drivers, and
possibly your motherboard chipset drivers as there are display
artifacts not caused by simply an underpowered computer.

When this is fixed use the FS display settings to find a correct ratio
for performance, a Celeron is not a very powerful CPU for simulations,
also 256Mb only of system RAM will slow the system overall, the 9200
SE is not a very powerful card for FS2004 either, rather borderline so
you need to lower most settings in the simulator to get acceptable
performance.

Did you run dxdiag.exe and go through all the tests? Once yo 'have
corrected the drivers anomalies let us know how it goes, 3D clouds and
ATC are some of the heaviest settings for performance, back them as
much as you can and still like the look and feel.

The PID can be found via the Help, About menu. It was also given
during installation.

You can find your PID in the About Box(in the Help menu). Have you closed
down all other programs? Oh, and download the latest drivers for your video
card. Often old drivers make a mess. What is your computer brand?

Probably not much help,
