Well got 1 laptop (1.86GHz dual core) on 24/7 folding (also just switch it over to smp client after seeing how well it work on another laptop for the past week).

Second laptop is on and off for folding though out the week. (it's a little faster (2.1Ghz) than the first but a lot nosier.)

Should see a nice bump in ppd with both running smp. Maybe up to 900+.

Back from BootCamp for medical reasons. I was in from April 12th to April 29th.

Thoughts:

1st: Harder then expected.
2nd: Harder then expected.
3rd: Still in habit of folding my rack, standing at attention, saying good morning, good afternoon, and goodevening, saying yes sir and just all the information is still beating in my head.

Update to this thread my computer is up and running F@H!

Happy to be back helping you guys!

Welcome back!

Sorry to hear about boot camp.

 i think this happens to all of us once we get used to saying/doing stuff so often.

Yea, yea Sid thanks for killing our planet by using all that electricity to get 10million points! lol

Congratz on hitting the 10 million points mark. Now if only we could get others to help us out.

This will answer most to all you questions.

Now to get A3 WU, you need to tell your SMP client configuration

Set -advmethods flag always, requesting new advanced
scientific cores and/or work units if available (no/yes) [no]?

to say yes.

This will give much higher chance of getting A3 WU.

Now If you're also going to ask how much bonus point you get, from what i have read/just seen

Dual core cpus: gets around 1500 points per WU.
Quad cores: gets around 3000 to 4000 points or more per WU
And it increase from there if you have more cores/threads

Ok.

With one rig I'm running a Xeon x2 2.4GHz and always give me WU of 2500000. Is that good?

My other rig is working with GPU and nVidia CUDA and always give me WU of 10000000, 15000000 or 20000000.

While i can really comment on the GPU, the xeon looks normal to me. The " amount of numbers" just means how many steps your CPU/GPU/PS3 have to do to complete it.

Trying to get my friends to help out folding with GPU F@H. He worked on it a little today with his GTX 295 he just bought. I have a AMD Athlon II X4 635 Propus 2.9GHz that will arrive at my house soon and I'll be using it to F@H soon. So I can't wait to be helping you guys even more! All I have now is a 2.9GHz Dual core.

If i remember correctly it was just a large and small choice, maybe i'm wrong i just kinda followed a guide i was given earlier, and i'm pretty sure i picked large

The amount of steps very between clients and WUs. Why your's so much less, i dont know.

Although what i do know is that it doesn't affect the base points of the WU or the speed at which it's done. I read somewhere on Foldingforum.org that you can have a WU that has many steps and be done in just a few hours to complete, Have a few steps and takes many hours to complete , and vice versa.

So nothing to really worry about.

 hmm i got a question for you guys. which image will make you guys fold more.
