Definitely agree with all of the above. Folding (and many DC medical projects) are long haul research. It could be years before some projects 'bear fruit', and some may end up not producing anything. All the nature of the beast. That being said, Folding hasn't done the best letting donors know that there actually has been progress. However, there is certainly nothing wrong with branching out. F@h is really one of many great DC projects. BOINC has a plethora of projects, from similar biomedical (example: GPUGrid) to astrophysics (example: Milkyway and Einstein) to mathematics (example: PrimeGrid). While some of these projects you might not want to dedicate 100% to for the rest of your life, they can be a lot of fun to run for a month and learn about. They can be a lot of work to learn about and manage, but if you are feeling a little stagnant they can be a fun diversion. That's what I've been doing while waiting for the F@h ocores to hit the next stage of development (I've also been keeping a healthy amount of F@h going).
