Well to be honest I'd rather have your cpu and mobo setup.

I only have a 990FX Sabertooth mobo with an FX6300, it is clocked to 4.7ghz.

New addition is the Gigabyte 980ti G1 Gaming, what a piece of kit!!

It produces more points than my other 2 cards, an HD7990(beast) and a 280X but never hits 70C and is whisper quiet, I honestly cant believe how well this card performs.

My HX1000 psu isn't beefy enough to run all 3 cards but it could handle the addition of the 280X if I can get it to work!

Might just sell the 2 AMD cards and try and pick up a 970, that would be nice😀

Watcha gonna do eh?

id love to put that card into mine and crank my cpu up to 5ghz and do some benchmarking on firestrike.[good times :bounce::bounce: ]

My mate has a 980ti and a Z97 / 4790K setup, we are going to do some 980ti SLI benching soon.😀

Going to set my AMD rig and his Intel rig at same speeds and see what the difference is in bench results.

I am guessing I'm going to lose:heink:

i run mine a 4.6ghz all the time and ram at 19200mhz instead of 1866mhz. ,what ram is he using.it makes a difference with intel.i used to have 8gb of 1600mhz kingston and HWBOT was notimpressed with my chip.said it was 'average' [cheeky] but when i got the corsair it was 'exeptional' [i liked that.,its OC like a ah heck ever since.im a novice and i can go to 5Ghz easy.

Switching an R9 280 for a GTX970 or GTX980 can never be a bad thing on any level.

Personally don't think the 980's are worth the extra, I had the same options and I just went big with the 980ti.

My first thought was to get a 970 and then another down the road.

I am unlucky No:13 @Anti-Painkilla

I've temporarily replaced my (leaking) water cooler with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. Since then my temps have increased -- CPU is up to 72C from a previous of 50C. The GPU temps are up to 68C from a previous of 57C.

I'm folding 4 of 6 CPU, not sure how much this is contributing. Are these temperatures anything to be concerned about? I'm sure I installed the CPU cooler properly.

yes, both of my front fans blow front to rear, the cpu fan blows front to rear, and the rear fan exhausts to the rear. I guess I stop CPU folding untill I figure it out. The rear fan seems slow...

i know your not gonna want to hear this but after water cooling air is umm hot,put your heatsinkyougotwiththe chipand have a real shock

btw way guys i didn't but the gigabyte g1 270 gtx gaming edition.i cannot justify spending that much on such a small fps increase. il wait till i can buy a 500 quid card

Upgrading from a 280 to a 270 would definitely have been weird. 😛
Jokes aside, next year could have some big GPU improvements when they finally launch cards that aren't built on 28nm.

We're folding pretty well at the moment, 6 of the last 7 days we've generated over 5 million points, and yesterday we broke 6 million. :bounce:

imajoke i bought it in the end http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NQ862GY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 ,it OC like the clappers soi look forward to some great benches.il OC the i7 4790k Devils Canyon to 5GHz take my ram upto 19100mhz [c[orsair dominator platinum] TAKE the 970 uo to 1675 mhz and the memeory 3809 and firestrike time..ilpost my scores if youintersted..all filding will be done at stock expet cpu at 4.6 GHz
just gotto ask,i read from someone that its got4GB but can only use 3,5 of it.IS this true? DAMMIT its is true and for 10 quid more i can get a gigabyte windforce r9 290X. what to do?

So you got a G1 970, happy days, same as my 980ti, absolutely awesome card, stick with that.

Memory clock doesn't effect F@H ppd.

The memory thing is also true but not an issue, how many games are utilising over 3.5gb??

Your original post said you were looking at a GTX270, I think that's where the confusion lies.

Can you post your ppd on stock speeds please.

I have had mine for nearly a year and am still perfectly happy with it. Although now I am aware of the fact that my FX 8320 can bottleneck it. I am trying to ignore this excuse for a platform upgrade but you know what the Borg say about resistance.
