It's not all NVidia cards - only Maxwell. And as mousemonkey said this is definitely far from 'certain'. On a different project someone found reducing memory clocks helped reduce "Bad State" errors. Are the errors you are seeing beano "Bad State" errors? It is also very possible that these are not caused by hardware issues but rather software or drivers. It is still too early to say at this point and it is being looked into, I just wanted to share a potential 'fix' in case anyone was getting a lot of Core 21 work units that are effected by this bug. I haven't seen it on 17 or 18 and it is only some Core 21 work.

I get a lot of bad state errors, sometimes it works through other times it chucks up faulty wu.

Only on core 21 63** wu's, nothing else.

Have tested my rig thoughly for stability and even downclocked cpu and mem with same voltages.

I had wondered if the fx6300 couldn't handle the 2 cards, obviously for gaming it wld be bottleneck city but for folding it only shows around 50% usage with both cards running.

I think the CPU is fine. Any limiting it is doing is likely minor. I run a couple (albeit lower end cards) on an old dual core Athlon. Definitely limits them some but not that much. For the BS errors, that basically means it detected NaNs or possibly some other non-physical result in the state file. It checks at regular intervals. If it detects 3 bad states during a single WU it declares the WU a failure (and reassigns it)

I am benching and testing my cards and system.

Hopefully my PSU will arrive this week and I'll fire up the folding again.

At least if I know the rest of my system is stable and I have more than enough power I can then put any issues down to gpu or dodgy wu's.

Still don't understand why when both cards are in the f@h client mixes them up, shows 980 as 980ti and vice versa?

i did a x21 last night ,i was crapping it lol but it did it as norm [good ol 8 pack lol]

No, all I run now is the 970 but for part of last winter I was still running dual 560Tis and folding on the FX 8320. That could move some heat.

hey guys my card is running at 1.1 instead of 2.0.i went into the bios and changed it but gpuz says there has been no change exept frame rates have dropped on fifrestike but the score has gone up.

i worked it out,it is running 2.0 but running 1.1 to save power..its lucky i looked though because it wasnt until i changed it to GEN 2 in bios.

With 980 in main slot and 980ti in secondary slot it lists the 980 then the 980ti.

Why, I do not know?

Device manager also has the 980 listed 1st when the 980ti is in the primary pci-e slot.

Just curious - I noticed the same weird ordering too. I can see why fah gets confused. Be sure to completely uninstall fah and then reinstall after you've made your GPU changes. I've heard that can help.

I have the same issue with either of the cards singularly.

Not fair, why does yours work and mine doesn't? Waaaaah, lol.

From what I've read though if power is part of the issue I am eager to try my monster SupaNova, it's waiting for me at home

i am not experiencing any problems now.my card drops to 1,1 when its in power saving mode.now iv put itb in gen 2 in the bios things are fine.folds like a demon

lol your get there
