Former quarterback of the Wisconsin football team, now defected to Minnesota - but I see that you're as much into football as I am :)
(that is - not at all)

Edit: and for all of the non-US readers, remember that your football is our soccer 😉

I was kidding btw, I think he was washed up 3 years ago and should have stayed retired.

South Carolina here although used to live in ohio.

Traveled though Wisconsin and Minnesota though. Lovely states! although for Wisconsin being called the cheese state, there sure is a lot of corn. But i guess you have to feed all those cows some how.

When i was in the Boy Scouts, we traveled to Ely, MN for the BWCA (Northern Tier as boy scouts say). Love how well park is maintained.

Oh yeah, Got some F@H news to spread around.

On December 16, there going to be a decent chunk of severs down undergoing maintenance. So there a decent possiblity of WU shortage.

As for your question elel,

"BTW - once the bonus kicks in, is it better to run one SMP client on 4 cores, or two on two cores each?"

It doesn't matter as you'll get the same amount points running 2 clients as if you run one. although for simplicity 1 is better unless your supporting 2 teams.

Now if this was year ago and you had a core i7 with HT turned on, then yes it would of been better with 2 clients. Reason for that was either the "core A1 or A2"(forget which one was running on windows.) could only run up to 4 cores or threads. Well, with the core i7 having 8 threads, you needed 2 clients to load all 8 threads.

Although now all OS have the "core A3" which (to my understanding) has no core limit. So running 2 SMP clients now have no real benefit.

Keep in mind that for bonus credit, you need to quickly complete the job before the deadline. I doubt you will get there with any 2 cores by anybody.....unless I am missing a lesser bonus option?

Well, the reason I was wondering is that I had seen in a thread somewhere that it was better to run 2 dual core clients to get the most points per power. I didn't understand this at all, and was ready to ignore it. But then I took a hard look at the bonus formula which FAH uses, and realized that they apply a sqrt function to the bonus you get - so speed increases receive diminishing returns. I was wondering whether 4 cores fell far enough along that path of diminishing returns to allow 2 dual cores to outpace them.

I gave up with dual core smp, just takes soooo long.
I run the quad at 95% so I can surf, email etc while its running, but not 24/7.
You can watch the credit reduce under hfm as you go along.
Along with the 2x460's @865mhz thats my setup at the mo but X58 + 950 could be on the way.

Is a Sandybridge gonna blow the 950 out of the water as a Folding cpu?

Wisconsen is approx 65498 sq miles
Minnesota is approx 84068 sq miles

The whole of the UK and NI is approx 137745 sq miles.

I live in the bit at the bottom right hand corner called Eastern on the map.

So my size to production rates are pretty good. 😀

Nice, the Rockets are aware but we are an unstoppable force, Superwarmon strikes again.

Isn't it nice that the Rockets can have a full Folding sig on their site along with everyone else it seems!

P.S - This is a football, not that thing that looks like a big fat cigar-

:pfff: I feel a bit dense now

Here is the page I was looking at. It has the formula for bonus calculation on it, which is
final_points = base_points * max(1,sqrt(k*deadline_length/elapsed_time))

Does anyone know where there is a list of the base points of different WUs? If I could get that, assuming that FAHmon uses this formula to calculate your PPD, I could calculate the k constant for the WU, and then be able to calculate the different PPDs of 1 vs. 2 clients. Though a table of both base work unit values and k constants for each WU would be even better 😛

Sorry to hear,

Well, GL and hope you can get back soon. :hello:

Ha  Keep droppin son, I'm just chuggin along, its like the Hare and the Tortoise.

Aznshinobi, gonna miss ya 🙁 .......................................... :finger:

Just passed 500k. :sol: Oooooh, theres me old mate Haserath.. 😀

315k last 24hrs, Awesome Team. [:aford10:7]

So, any ideas on Sandybridge Folding power compared to 950?

C,mon its only 86 and its nice, you said so, pleeeeeeese don't take it away from me.

I don't know how to reduce it, if you tell me I will oblidge.

Well, tinkering with the URL of the image,

piro.pirocast.net/badge/none/fah02/1/0/0/0/150/150/150/0/0/0/0/0/0/255/255/255/532255.png

That bolded 1 in your link needed to be switched around. Im still messing with it but currently i've found placing a 800 there will make it 316 x 69.

your current size

This edited size.

Stilling trying to find the magic # x 75 but this is the best i can find.

Du Du Du Du Du SuperWarmon... cheers pal.

I hasn't been removed yet, what could this mean. :heink:

It is nice though huh? Be nicer if you could fine tune it. 😉

So... can you not mess around with the other sig to make it the right size?

there really no way to fine tune the other sig. Anything i could try on that sig to fine tune it would lead to a break in the code. Thus no image. The only numbers i could minipulate where the colors (if you chose to add any), your EOC user ID, and team id.

With this, you can adjust it in so many ways, it's almost not funny.

Like im able to chage your image to a different F@H image by changing

piro.pirocast.net/badge/none/fah02/1/0/0/0/150/150/150/0/0/0/0/0/0/255/255/255/532255.png

to "fah01"

532255.png

Change text colors, (lets pick bright green)

piro.pirocast.net/badge/none/fah01/1/0/0/0/150/150/150/0/0/0/0/0/0/000/255/000/532255.png

Those 3 spots control your color. This 1st and 3rd spot, i dropped to 0 and left the center at normal of 255. Although these three spots can be controled to get your desired color.

532255.png

And 1 other thing i have found is 2 get 2 images up. With one being your name, team, ect, and the EVGA(apes) chimp challenge 2010 sig. (evga sig up in front while your in back.) (not much of a use for us though)

piro.pirocast.net/badge/none/fah02/2000/0/0/0/150/150/150/0/0/0/0/0/0/255/255/255/532255.png

532255.png

Although these are about the limits of different setting areas i can mess around with. (other than the EOC User id number at the end.

Have fun with all this tinkering. 😀

Yeah, the colours, backgrounds and icon settings are on the setup page although I didn't see the double one.

I've just been trying different numbers where you highlighted but there seems to be no pattern.

I mean 10 is the same as 210 and 950 is the same as 730, anyway thanks I'll keep playin.

Where did you get your Tom's banner from?

It means I'm in a reasonably good mood and have been busy doing other things but the rules are not up for negotiation, 400 x 75 or smaller are the parameters.

For some reason this just reminded me of my Physics teacher. He's having us build a project that can get a 200g mass up to 90-120cm for an "A"(extra points for a more complex and controlled project, meaning that even if you went 100 times you wouldn't take out a wall 😗 ), which is why I've kept myself from posting all this time; otherwise, I might spend hours on here telling beano over here that if he passes me I'll have to destroy his beloved 460's 😀 . I never thought it would be this hard to make a good working model, within the "parameters" he gives us; unfortunately, they're not negotiable.
Just passed 500k. :sol: Oooooh, theres me old mate Haserath.. 😀
As I said before, you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not shout, I told you why. Oh no, the Christmas music is already stuck in my head! :pt1cable:
