i dont care about the temps, as im ging to improve the cooling. could i use a 20gb laptop hard drive in a usb enclosure to boot off xp home? and then run the client like so? would the 1ghz cpu be fast enough for f@h? and yes id leave it on all day possibly all night! would that kill the laptop hard drive being on 24/7 if its already a cery old 4200rpm model? thanks. i am thinking this is sounding like a better and better idea OMG!

Your HD is not the problem it's your CPU that would be cooked, and the picture is of the Light Bike from Tron II

i think athlon xp cpus are better per clock than celerons thogh! if its a neo nx1500 (but it shows up in the bios and os as an athlon xp) that means its equal to a 1.5ghz p4. am i right?

if the cely cpu was netburst based (micro-architecture the p4's were one),yes it would. although if i remeber right, this cpu is based of the core micro architecture. let me look it up.

Nevermind. It's a cely M 360 on the pentium M micro-arch

So it is possible that you cpu will perform better than my cpu.

Oh yeah the arch does matter. It the reason why back in the Althon xp vs pentium 4 days, the athlon would always wins clock for clock.

It's also the same reason why in single threaded apps, the core i7 920 on par with the fastest phenom II x4. all due to the arch.

I just started folding so this is all new to me when its running it only uses about 1/3 of the cpu this is running on a Core 2 quad at 3.1ghz is this normal. I am also running SMP and that has my GPU at 99%.

You could have any pc working on folding but if it's to slow, then it it's really no help.

Yea if the PC doesnt complete the work order before it expires it is pointless. I read on the Folding@Home forums that really anything belowe a Pentium 4 2ghz will not be very beneficial to the project at all.

Can someone tell me how to use more then 1 core for folding because I noticed that that it will only use 1 core but I heard there is a way to use all my cores I am folding on a Q8200 Quad at 3.16ghz and yes it has plenty of cooling.
