Yep. GPU folding is really messed up right now. Old NVidias are getting new NVidia WUs, ATIs are getting NVidia WUs, and NVidias are getting ATI WUs. What core is it trying to update? I bet it is Core 15, the NVidia WU. If you are getting that error might as well pause the slot until PG gets the Assignment servers fixed.

Sabertooth X58 mobo I used to run bigadv on with a 6 core xeon.

6 2GB sticks of ram, same config. Ran this setup at 100% load for 6 months without a hitch.

Now has an i7-760

Bios is all default.

I did add a liquid cooler that I am concerned with. It has a pump and a fan connected to the cpu fan header. I am worried that could be too much. May go back to air.

2 560 ti's that i bought open box from newegg but I've only run one previously.

The video cards were getting so hot I have 2 extra case fans on the chassis headers blowing directly on the cards. I may be taxing that system?

64gb SSD and an optical drive.

ultra basic

That's the one my ATIs would not update, and my 560s are running. Sounds like you are in line for some good points today 😀

hmm maybe move the fans onto 4 pin to 3 pin adapters and cut back on memory sticks
might be pushing the mobos VRM too hard?

Disconnected fan and pump and put them on different headers. CPU/Chassis.

Took out additional fans. GPU1 is now 96C but system seems to be running good overall. I was looking for a 4 to 3 as I was away. I used to have a half dozen, but they seem to be eluding me ATM.

Time will tell. I maybe go back to the drawing board tonight with a different mobo that has X16 slots 3 apart instead of 2, and then put a 460 open style cooling setup on top slot on this system to keep things cool.

Here that would be "Redneck" cooling at it's finest, and have seen it done a few times with old cases . :sarcastic:

AS patch for GPU assignments

We've been seeing donor reports of WU assignment issues for GPUs (WU's intended only for G80 GPUs going to Fermi and Kepler). We finished an AS patch yesterday, gave it a day of testing, then rolled it out this morning to address this issue. We generally don't like to roll out new AS code this quickly, but this time it seemed important to address this issue quickly. We hope that as of 7:30am pacific time, this issue is now addressed, but we'll be keeping an eye out during the day to see.

Hopefully, this will prevent the old WU's getting on new gpu's.

Saddly, your right..... that fix above only made more problems.....

And all these problems (while there trying to fix it now) probably wont be fully fixed till monday. Major issues always happen when you have few hands on desk...

Latest update on those issues.

Updates on GPU issues

We've been working to fix two issues with GPU clients in FAH. Here's an update:

1) There was an issue with NVIDIA clients with G80 GPUs getting stuck in a core_outdated download infinite loop. This has now been resolved. This was caused when we stopped older projects which used core_11 (which the G80's were primarily running) and now the G80's are directed to more recent projects. However, with the ending of the old projects and the start of the new ones, that means G80 GPUs go to core_15, which has much more strict testing for GPU memory errors. Several donors have reported that these tests are failing with their boards. We are looking into whether this is an issue with our test or potentially that the boards are not capable of running the latest core. So, while the core_outdated loop issue appears now to be fixed, there is another unresolved issue which we are continuing to look into.

2) There was a second issue with ATI clients getting directed to servers running NV WU's. This error is also unresolved at the moment, but we have a handle on what's happening on our end and have a team working on it. I don't have any news here to report other than we can see the issue cause in our logs, which is the first step to fixing it.

Think I got 3 dual nvidia machines running good now, 2 560s, 2 470s and 2 460s. I got way too much time into this for the weekend, but I gotta keep ahead of the mouse.

Do 260s make any points? I got a pair of them too.

The more machines I get online, the faster my estimated PPD is falling due to weak WUs....I am starting to remember how much work this can be again

Resistance is futile!
