Hello, i was wondering, is there any rule to mounting my front case fans. Does it matter if i install it inside the bracket or outside of it? The case came with case fans pre installed which were mounted outside of the bracket which am switching out. Would like to fit them on the inside of the bracket if doesn’t cause any troubles since it makes it easier to replace them if i need to replace them again. Thank you!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

The answer to your question is relative to your case. If your case has a front panel like the Define 5 from Fractal Design, then placing the fan outside the chassis frame would cause the fans to brush up against the front fascia, which would mean reduced air intake. A front fascia that's all glass will also reduce the air intake of the fans. Mind you, the fans inside the case approach will also impede on the length of GPU you can drop into the case.

That being said, what is the make and model of your case?

There's no rule as long as there is clearance so that the fans can turn freely and the wiring won't be a problem.

Hello and thank you for the answer. The case i have is aerocool trinity mini which has the front panel shaped in a way so it can fit outside of the bracket without problems. If i understand correctly it should be fine for me to install the fans on the inside of the bracket as long as i have enough room?

Either positions will work for you. If you're particular about noise, then having the fans inside the case will reduce the noise you hear when the blades chop through the air and the gap between the meshed front panel.

I guess the above link brings up maybe a new issue. Do you care if "allows for a clear viewing of your front LED fans". You would want the fans mounted close to the mesh if you care about seeing them.

I strongly suspect you can mount the fans any way you want and there will be very little difference in performance. The mesh front does not really impede the air flow enough that the distance a fan is from it would make much difference.

Like most these things the real answer is to try both and see which you like the best. I suspect there will be a difference in the sound quality more than the actual loudness. Only you can decide which is more or less irritating. The cooling of the case I doubt you will be able to even detect a difference unless you have some very specialized measurement tools.
