Had to reinstall FS2000 and I guess I lost my shadow capability. How can I
get it back? Never could land without shadows.
BTW, by F-86 engine won't start. Never good. Is this the kind if thing you
run into on a reinstall?

Thx
Dave

You need the FS2000 update to get the shadows back:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2000_downloads_fs2000update.asp

BTW just a question: why still use FS2000? Upgrading to at least
FS2002 would make sense as features and performance are better on most
systems...

What F86 are you using? Did you check with the add-on's author?

Are you useing the Standard or Professional version?

Search Microsoft Downloads for Flight Simulator 2000. Look for the
FS2000 2.0b updates. Note that there are seperate downloads for the
Standard and Profesional versions of FS 2000.

Also set your color depth to 32 bit.

By not being able to start a particular aircraft's engines are you
having trouble with the CTRL-e autostart or the more complex full
procedure startup? Some real world planes need ground support equipment
to get their turbines spinning, some add on planes may have this
requirement or special key sequences. A few planes just lack the
autostart feature.

Thanks everybody. Turnouts I had the patch in my fast download folder. Ran
the patch and rec'r an error message, something about program was not
installed right.

There's always something.
Any idea what that might be about?

What is the exact error message? Did you get the right patch for your
version (Standard or Pro) and language?

Here's how to properly install or reinstall a game (and patch):

Step A: Temporarily disable Startup programs one at a time, starting with
Firewall, Antivirus & AdBlockers using this method:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=331796 or this utility:
http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php Reboot, go to Step B.

Step B: In Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs, delete the game and then
the game's folder especially if you previously experienced problems
with a patch, or if you installed the Trial, Mods, NO CD patches, etc.

Note: Click Start to Search or Find your game. Many times there are two installs
of the same game on a system and the patch installs to the wrong one. Also if you
installed a Trial version of the game, this could be causing a conflict.. Uninstall it
and delete the folder.

Step C: Install and Run Regcleaner and if it finds any stray registry keys for the
game, delete them. Reboot your computer, and then re-install the game.
Regcleaner Download: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download460.html

Step D: Play a single player game, using an administrators account if necessary.

Step E: Download new game patches or mods in case the old ones are corrupt.
Double click the patch/mod to install it. If it's a .zip file, unzip it into the
game's folder and follow the instruction in it's readme.txt file.

Step F: Reboot your computer, verify that your game is working properly, and
re-enable any programs that you disabled using the method in Step A.

Cheers,
Jimmy S.

Thanks everybody - it's working (except text has a magenta cast - still).
Previous suggestion was to upgrade video driver - did, but no joy.

I can live with it, though.

And thanks again
