Hey all! First I want to give a little backstory. Recently I have built a new Ryzen based PC. The first few days of use were fine. Then, I started to get blue screens when on Chrome pages, the pages would crash, and all my games but Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege would crash. I play Cluster Truck, Minecraft (with two different launchers one saying my ATI graphics drivers are out of date which they aren't), Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, ABZU, Sea of Thieves, and Astroneer. My specs are: R5 3600 at stock clocks (as far as I know), RX 580 8gb, 16gb of Trident Z RGB 3200 Mhz ram, Asrock B450M Steel Legend, EVGA 450W BR PSU, and my case is the Phanteks P300. I have tried old/new GPU drivers, uninstalling then reinstalling windows, but after I reinstalled windows instead of a couple days until crashes, it would crash straight off the bat anyways. ANY help is appreciated. Here are the Minecraft 1.14.4 Crash Logs:

Welcome to the forums my friend!

Are you still encountering the blue screens? If so can you post a link directly to the dump files?
Guide: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...nclude-in-blue-screen-of-death-posts.3468965/

If you can post these then we can help debug them and identify the potential cause. Do you recall at all what bugchecks you were encountering (name of BSOD)?

Have you updated all of your drivers to latest versions directly from the manufacturers website? (Not a third party driver installer) this includes:
  • Motherboard/Chipset
  • Internet/LAN
  • GPU and SATA drivers?

Do you have latest BIOS installed?
Are you running any overclock or XMP at all?

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome! I'm running XMP 2.0 but apparently instead of running 3200 Mhz I'm running 2133 according to Task Manager, and here's the link for the blue screen dump (my most recent one as of posting this) : https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnJi_w9KOQwk1B6nNyFY13epKihb?e=qTZGbq . I'm also using an M.2 drive instead of a sata drive, and my GPU drivers are the newest. I'm using an external Wi-Fi adapter which I couldn't find drivers for, and ASRock says here: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M Steel Legend/index.us.asp#BIOS not to upgrade the board if it is Pinnacle Ridge, which the Ryzen 5 3600 is. Unless Ryzen Master ruined my stock clock from my last Windows Installation, it should be stock clocks. If a bugcheck is the error message, I'm not sure what it said. Sorry for the big hunk of information but I'd be delighted with any response. Thanks!

Nothing to apologise for at all, it's all useful information my friend thank you!

I have ran the dump file and you can see the full report here: https://pste.eu/p/JVNe.html

Summary of findings:
BugCheck 109
Probably caused by : Unknown_Image ( ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE )

Bugcheck Description:

CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION
This indicates that the kernel has detected critical kernel code or data corruption. The value of Parameter 4 indicates the type of corrupted region.

About your bugcheck:
There are generally three different causes for this bug check:

  • A driver has inadvertently, or deliberately, modified critical kernel code or data. For more information, see Patching Policy for x64-based Systems.
  • A developer attempted to set a normal kernel breakpoint using a kernel debugger that was not attached when the system was started.
  • A hardware corruption occurred. For example, the kernel code or data could have been stored in memory that failed.

Often this is software based.

Some things to consider:
I would highly advise you to view the full report above, as this will contain much more detail as to the bugcheck and modules running at the time.
  • It may be worth resetting BIOS to defaults just to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary.
  • I would put my bets on your Realtek Wireless Driver at this point - have you checked if there is an update available?

Thanks so much! I will try those out tomorrow morning, but should I also reset the CMOS? Is there a software like DDU but for Wireless Drivers? My internet has also been very inconsistent recently, but I've gotten used to it. Thanks again I never would've even thought to try those solutions!

This doesn't matter, but I'd like to learn the technical side of things because I'm curious as to how the Wireless Drivers could conflict with other things.

Not necessarily, you just have to clear the old ones and install the new. Just don't use a third party driver installer :)

but should I also reset the CMOS?
Honestly, yes I probably would, IF you're not sure on how your BIOS is configured, bringing it back to default settings will eliminate any OC/XMP or general configs from the list of causes.

This doesn't matter, but I'd like to learn the technical side of things because I'm curious as to how the Wireless Drivers could conflict with other things.
In all honesty, the list is endless. I'm currently in the process of writing a guide on debugging that describes some of this, but it won't be ready for release for a while.

Really it's bets going back to why BSOD exist in the first place:

Microsoft defines it very well:
“When Microsoft Windows encounters a condition that compromises safe system operation, the system halts. This condition is called a bug check. It is also commonly referred to as a system crash, a kernel error, a Stop error, or BSOD. A hardware device, its driver, or related software might have caused this error.”
In simple terms – it’s when Windows has detected a problem that could have caused damage or corruption to the operating system, or your computer itself, and therefore needed to STOP.

That’s why technically it’s called a stop error, stop code, or a bug check. They are more indicative of a fatal system crash. For the purpose of standardisation, we will call this a bug check (Bugcheck = BSOD).

So misbehaving drivers can do all manner of things to damage Windows OS, and this goes back the bug check or stop code (yours is 109 - Critical Structure Corruption) which effectively means you had software are hardware physically try and corrupt the kernel, so Windows shut itself down to prevent it from happening.

It's the same as your body having a seizure in a way, it's a scary sight, but quite often it's your bodies way of trying to keep itself going when it detects something amiss.

I figured out the Wi-Fi drivers and blue screens no longer happen, but games still crash. Do you have an idea what may be causing that? (See first post for Minecraft crash logs). Also, from my tests it doesn't have anything to do with Java. Thanls!

I'll be honest I have not and do not look at Minecraft logs. Someone else may be better suited than me.
Does it only crash on specific games?

Power supply does not meet manufacturers minimum power requirements to run RX 580 8gb.
System Requirement

  • 500 Watt or greater power supply (Recommended)
  • 1 x 8-pin Power Connector
  • PCI Express® 2.0 or higher version based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard in order for the card to be compatible with.
https://www.sapphiretech.com/en/consumer/pulse-rx-580-8g-g5
Absolutely this is the other thing to mention after the BSOD were resolved.
The BR series are poor quality.

The RX580 can run on a 450W, but a good quality one at least.
A 500W would be best suited but good quality.

Being as the BSOD stopped following the WiFI driver update, it seems to have revealed the next problem.

Currently I don't have too much money for a new PSU, so should I just underclock my GPU a little bit? (5-15%).

How would I go about that?

Edit: it makes sense since in my last build (R3 1300x and RX 580) with a 4 core 4 thread cpu vs 12 thread 6 core, the newer chip should use much more power.

Edit 2: is there an application I can use to monitor wattage, and what should be the maximum to use on my psu?

The problem is not necessarily wattage usage, it's quality. And the BR is poor quality. Point 1 of this guide I made shows a bit more detail:
https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...when-selecting-parts-for-a-custom-pc.3510178/

undervolting the GPU can help, but it's not ideal, best option is to get a better quality PSU.
If you are on a strict budget, you could consider something like:
Power Supply: Corsair CX (2017) 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $59.99

Turns out it's not the power supply, I even underclocked the GPU to the lowest MSI after burner could let me and it still crashed... Do you have any other ideas that's not the GPU driver?

Again, doesn't mean the PSU is functional, ultimately you're running a GPU on a system that probably shouldn't be running it. It's hard to identify other causes before this is clarified, which Is why I'd be tempted to try the GPU on another system.

You could potentially monitor PSU voltages through HWInfo, and see if there are any adverse fluctuations on each of the rails, but it could just be the GPU pulling too much for the PSU to cope.

Alright I'll check that out now!

Edit: I've traced the issue to Windows 10 Version 1903. Is there a way I can downgrade to 1809 w/o the windows.old file? Thanks!

Hey! Last week I had game-crash problems after I built my new PC and traced it back to Windows' fault, so I decided to reinstall Windows 10. Turns out the problem was Windows 10 1903, and now I need to downgrade to 1809. If there's a Windows.old file someone can link me to (even if it's theirs) Windows.old file. I'll try to do everything else by myself, or if you can find a Windows 10 1809 ISO I can use (that won't update me to 1903) that would mean a great deal to me.

PS: If the windows.old file contains personal information, DO NOT LINK IT. I do not want anyone who is just trying to help get there information stolen or put at risk. Thanks!

Edit: I was also thinking about using the Win 10 1809 ISO, then during setup disconnect it from the internet. Would that cause any issues (If I afterwards went back and connected then signed in with my Windows account)?

A "windows.old" from some other PC will not work. They are not interchangeable.
(and its not just a 'file')

And installing v1809 now will update itself to v1903 in short order.

What specifically leads you to surmise that the v1903 update is the culprit?

Apologies I didn't see the response from the previous thread OP.

As Colif and USA have stated, I'd be curious to know how it's been identified at 1903.
I'd be happy if it wasn't hardware don't get me wrong, thus why I was suggesting hardware testing, but we couldn't test safe mode.

I have a secondary PC with 1809 on it. I put its SSD into mine and all games ran flawlessly. Now I installed 1809 on my main PC and everything is running completely smooth. I talked to a Microsoft rep and he sent me the ISO (not media creation tool) so it won't update to 1809.
