Hello,
We're looking for the best way to boost (or change) our wireless router signal so it will reach a small outbuilding that is very close to (but not connected to) our house. Distance from router to connection point is about 60 feet. A brand new Cisco ValetPlus "N" Router won't "reach" (but works throughout the house). There are two brick chimneys in the way - might these be the problem? Or does a radio signal "scatter" once out of doors?
We're thinking of moving the new wireless router out of the way of the chimneys but that requires putting the existing (old) desktop on a wireless adapter. Question #1 - does this make sense? If so, what is the best/strongest adapter that is still cheap and easy to install? Finally - is there some better solution? We used to use a range expander (positioned to avoid the chimneys) which worked great until it died. Is this a better option? Thanks for your help on this frustrating issue!
