Hello, so I have a problem I’ve had my new pc now about 6 months, not had a problem
Until now. It was pre built as I don’t know much about pc’s I’m not very technical. But recently especially when loading up games my gpu seems to be making a really high pitch noise. It’s loud as a game starts up but as I get into a game it dies down a little but it’s still there. You can’t really hear it above my fans and when my case is shut and I use headphones so I can’t hear it at all when gaming but I’m still worried that my pc is about to break because it’s still there and I don’t understand why this noise has suddenly started.
I took a video have a listen and see what you
Think

nvidia's control panel is not as straight forward . that's why i like amd more . anyhow they Key word is Frame . or Frame per Second or something like that . see if you can find that .

Okay thanks i’ll Try, does this noise mean my card is failing? It’s still the same temps and performance I get usually. But the new noise is concerning, I’m afraid something may break on me, so far I’m not seeing any issues except the noise

no your card is not failing . intel HD graphics simply doesn't handle lots of load , i myself played mw3 with my intel HD and it started to f*** t

Does it definitely sound like coil whine to you
From the sound of the video? Because if it isn’t an issue with my gpu I can live with a little noise on start up of a game, My main concern is if I have to buy a new one or attempt to get it repaired. Also do you know why it’s started? Is it a common thing in gpu’s?

It may be from fans because i also had 4 Gigabyte GPU's (1050Ti, 1050Ti Gaming edition and 1060) All from Gigabyte with exact noise sound. When the fans are spining over 60% than that noise is always there. Try to manual play (from soft of corse) with fans and put them to work gradualy from 60% to 95% and you will see that the sound will be more lod as they go higher in rpm. Is just Gigabyte....

Did your cards fail or just make the noise? I can handle the noise but my temps and performance are still the same as always so I don’t think there is an actual problem with the card to indicate breaking, just the unfortunate noise. If it is coil whine like others have said then that’s okay. My main concerns are the card breaking on me but had it running all day and temps have been steady like normal

No, not even one card didnt fail. Worked well with no other problems but this sound. Actualy Gigabyte is a prety good brand. The problems are at fans with that small balls or bearing that make bad noise. All my Gigabyte cards came with this sound from the begining, all 3 i boughted as new on sales, and all tree made this sound. Still next time try to take MSI EVGA or Asus. Are way better.

That’s good to hear! Did the noise ever die down a little? I’ve heard that after a few weeks sometimes the noise can get lower again, it makes the noise mainly as a game starts up, idle it’s really quiet, if I start a game like the Witcher 3 for example then you can hear it get louder as the game boots up but as soon as I press continue and I’m in game the sound gets quieter again but it’s still there, Did this happen with you? I can’t hear it through my case and fans when playing so that’s good. I suppose all I can do for now is monitor my temps and performance to check it’s okay. I think Another 6 months i’ll End up buying a 2080ti anyway or hopefully they release a 2080ti without ray tracing for a little cheaper

Actualy that sound sometimes gets louder sometimes is quiter. I think also depends on temps maybe i am not sure. But yes, i didnt get the same louder soud every day. Try to do an experiment. Put the fans to work 85% and then place the PC on te motherboard side, but slowly so you dont damege anithing like HDDs. You will see that if the case is lying down on the motherboard side that sound will disapear, at last at me.

Unfortunately I don’t have enough room to do that, i’ll Keep an eye on it and all the temps. Hopefully nothing happens like it stops working, if it’s just that noise and nothing else wrong then I don’t really care. Thanks for the info, still a little worried about it because it just started happening randomly. It’s a little disappointing that cards can have this issue as this is my first pc.

Mate chill out nothing will happen. Is just bad noise from fans. As long as you dont overclock the GPU and make a stupid setting everything will be ok.
