Gpu upgrade

Hello,
I have an emachine w5243 (mcp61sm-gm) and im looking to up grade the graphics card its on board is a nvidia gforce 6100 nforce 405 it has a 300w psu and a amd athlon X2 6000+ 3.1 cpu , windows 7 ultimate 64 bit , i looked at the specs and it has a pci express 16x but reads at 8x ? so what am i able to put in this machine with out any trouble that is better than stock gpu for around $40

well i do a lot of video editing burning and some gamming. witch one would you choose of the 2

The top card is about twice as powerfull as far as gaming goes
