Gts 450 3d?

I have heard the gts 450 can play 3d blu ray movies, games etc.

Can it play 3d movies and games, what do i need to do this?

you need to have a 3d monitor and glasses

it will depend, there is various ways, you can do using nvidia 3D Vision, wich you will need to buy a 120hz 3d ready display and buy the 3d vision glasses plug them on computer and you are able to play/watch movies in 3d.

or ther is a solution if your have already a 3D Television with their own glassses, you can plug the computer into the television with any video 3D (Side By Side/Checkerboards [depends on the television technology]) and make the television do the work (this will only work for movies and specific games).

THere is also de possibility of buying the 3DTV play wich enable you to use your computer into your television using the television glasses but this is limited to to 720p 60hz or 1920x1080 24hz...

EDIT: there is also the possibility of using 3rd party drivers that works just like 3dTv play but also enables 1920x1080, you can look for that in the mtbs website http://www.mtbs3d.com/

Movies will be fine, but games will have issues. The GTS450 is at best a midrange card already and 3D by its very nature will cut your frame rates in half. (left and right) So if in best case you were getting 50FPS, you now get 25. Not saying don't do it, but be prepared for bad frame rates on newer games.

yes there is also this points, for gaming the frame drops are very high, because there is need to run 2 games at same times from different point of views and also there is all the deph calculation that will drop frames by more than half, but at 720 and lowering some graphics [some times you have to remove some effects for the 3D Effect work properly] you can get acceptable framerates, but the fps drops are HUGE in gaming (unless you are using side by side/checkerboard/etc... so the processing will be done by the television, so the graphics card frames will only drop a little and you will be able to run at 1080i )

here is a list of games that you will be able to run without nvidia 3d vision, so you can plug your computer to your 3D tv ready activate the 3D option and the television will do the work (your television must be using the same conversion that the game will be splitting the image)

And this is where the wheel fall off for me. I'd rather have 1080 2D then 720 3D. But I know this is a personal choice. For me the more I can see the better.

you can have 1080p 60hz 3D, but that requires 3D vision, and a monitor with real 120hz using dual-link DVI.

via television this is not so easy because they are not really 120hz most of them use motionflow or other post processing software that don't do the job, but with 3D monitors you can do that.

Yes, but a GTS450 isn't going to be able to do that for recent games. I'd rather have the increased resolution over some 3D effects.
