Question GTX 960 Twin Frozr 2GB vertical mount

my gpu runs on 1x8pin power connector, but i have a 1x6pin which i use and it works fine.
The case i've ordered has vertical mounts for the gpu as well as the normal horizontal mounts, but i think that vertical mounting just looks way cooler but i don't have a pcie vertical mount cable. Yeah i know i can get one from ebay or amazon, but is it possible to power my gpu entirely from the 1x6pin power connector?

A PSU with only one 6 pin PCIe sounds like very old or junk to me. What's the brand and model of the unit?

If the card fires up with just the 6 pin alone have you kicked it up with a game.

The card having the 8 pin connector has those two extra pins that are grounds. It's a way the industry tried to take the oops out of the installers hands.

There is a sensor ground to tell the GPU you have a power supply that matches the power required to run a 8 pin GPU. With that said a quality Power supply that has only has 6 pins works fine on lower demanding cards.

But I would still get a 6 to 8 pin adapter from amazon.

But all this is moot if you have a low quality power supply.

Please list your make and model of power supply so we can reply with a yes or no if WE would use what you have for what your asking.

One way or another the card needs to be plugged into the mother board . direct or with riser cable

I have to ask does the case specs say it does or does not come with the riser cable. I have no answer as IDK what you get in the package for the case.
