Its been having some odd crash issues for a while now. I updated Windows 10, and updated video drivers, and have checked for driver updates on other parts to no avail, though I may be missing something.

I've noticed a few blue screens, saying WHEA Uncorrectable Error, I've had the computer just freeze randomly, even while doing nothing (mouse can't move, no audio comes through, ctrl+alt+del does nothing, and I have to manually power cycle the PC to get it working), and I've left my computer on, and (the most common instance) I've walked away from the computer or left it on, and when I get back to it the PC has power cycled on its own due to some problem (whether its the blue screen, the freezing, or some unknown third issue, I don't know). These issues seem to happen indiscriminately, and occur whether I'm actively using the PC (though uncommon) or if barely anything is open and running. The PC isn't overclocked as far as I know, and the temps seem fine and sit at around 40c, and considering I'm in a hot and humid environment I'm not complaining.

They all share the same keywords, task category, event id, etc.

I've been having crashes pointing to ntoskrnl.exe for months now.

I have done memtest86, 8 passes, no failures. (Technically, two 4-passes back to back)

I've checked both my OS SSD and my HDD for disk errors - no problems.

I've run an sfc scan to check for windows corrupted files - none found.

The last step, running driver verifier, has crashed my pc before getting to windows 3 times in a row. Using BlueScreenView to look at the DMP file points all of them to RzDev_0226.sys.

Great, I have a culprit. Unfortunately, is there no way to roll this driver back, or update it? There are only two razer devices plugged in to my PC, the huntsman elite keyboard, and a firefly cloth edition mousepad. This is a brand new PC (purchased in December) with a 10850k and an rtx 3090, so I'm doubtful its anything due to having an old PC, and like I said, I ran those previous tests expecting it to be a hardware issue already, as this crash never occurred on my old PC.

So... what can I do? Beg Razer to update their drivers causing my PC to crash, or do I have to buy a different keyboard? Is there a quicker solution?

I'm legitimately desperate to get this fixed. I've been struggling with this problem for months. I've been searching for the file and have found no solutions..

razer drivers

try running without synapse for a bit and see if it fixes the WHEA errors. Its a hardware error so if they new you should be able to replacements that don't cause windows errors.

Will try leaving my PC on without Synapse open, as it crashes even if not at the computer. Will report back tomorrow. Thanks for the idea!

you might need to remove synapse to get rid of the drivers. Just stopping it still leaves them active.

It stayed on all night and all day so far with no issues, though it may just be coincidence. I'll leave it up again tonight and see how it goes. I agree that closing it doesn't stop the drivers.. but something along the way of doing the driver verifier to closing synapse has made it last a day, the first day without a crash since I got it.

3 months? I would have posted before now.

i wonder which items causes the error, you narrowed it down to the rqzer drivers but which device is causing the error. As you can't go on using razer stuff without the extras.. i mean, you could. I suspect rgb doesn't work without synapse.
I used to have a Razer kb, I remember synapse tried to install itself midpoint of a windows install once. I guess it is driver software but can't it wait?

Yeah, most of the crashes then were while I was away from the computer, and I have my PC set to log in to my account automatically so other than quickly reopening a program, I haven't had too many annoyances with it. Its now started crashing while actively using the PC, and a lot more often, and I didn't want to post about it until I debugged some more.

As an update, last night at about 3 am, it did crash while I was using it. Well, more specifically, I was just turning my monitors off and walking away when I noticed the lights flash, so I came back to see it had indeed crashed and restarted. I immediately attempted to reply here, but it then blue screened again. I then loaded up two more times, but both of these times, it hard froze (unable to move the mouse, type, or perform any actions) and I had to power cycle. After that second time, I gave up and went to sleep.

I just got off the phone with Razer support, and they have mostly proved unhelpful, but they are "Forwarding this to their advanced technicians", so we'll see what comes of that.

Some more information about my setup:

I have a razer huntsman elite keyboard, a razer firefly mousepad (came in a bundle), and a logitech g600 mouse. Other devices plugged in include a dongle for my modmic wireless, a usb stick with my installer media for windows 10 (in case of needing a system restore), and a "Creative Sound BlasterX G5 7.1 Headphone Surround HD Audio External Sound Card with Headphone Amplifier", an external sound card I had to pick up to use my current headphones with my computer, as the new build didn't have a digital audio port.

On the first crash last night, I had just closed out of most programs, turned the monitors off, and plugged in my modmic wireless to the charging dongle (which is charging through a usb port on the external sound card). After the crash, I wondered if maybe I was drawing too much power, charging the mic through the external sound card which is also powered via USB, so I moved the modmic cable to a different port and restarted, and it crashed again/hard froze anyways. The mic had been charging from the external card for a while now, so I doubted it as an issue, but figured I should check, just in case.

I did run another driver verifier this morning after uninstalling Razer Synapse and reinstalling through their website (per instruction of the Razer Tech Support) and then ran a driver verifier again, and it did indeed crash again, and again pointed to the same RzDev_0226.sys.

maybe check if the razer driver is gone
Can you download and run Driverview - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

All it does is looks at drivers installed; it won't install any

When you run it, go into view tab and set it to hide all Microsoft drivers, will make list shorter.

now if its still there, you might be able to stop it auto loading with https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

It was still there. I used autorun to disable it, then ran the driver verifier again, and it now shows 3 faulty drivers:

ntoskrnl.exe (Same as usual)
RzDev_0C00.sys (new one)
Wdf0100.sys (windows Kernel Mode Driver Framework Runtime)

I am now going to stop RzDev0c00.sys from running and try again. Will edit this once that is done.

Update:

By removing that driver from running, the third, "common" razer driver also doesn't run. By disabling this, I was able to boot into windows with the driver verifier running. All is not solved, however, as it blue screened soon after (before anything meaningful could ever be done). I ran it a second time just to check, and it blue screened at the same time again, Only one of them is showing in the bluescreenviewer, but both pointed to the same file on the blue screen itself:

ntoskrnl.exe (of course)
nvrtxvad64v.sys (NVIDIA Broadcast Voice Driver)
VerifierExt.sys (Driver Verifier Extension)

I can only assume that is the rtx broadcast stuff that came with my computer. I think it, by default, is applying noise removal to my microphone, which I have just let it use. I will leave this enabled for now, and see if my computer crashes anytime in the near future with all razer drivers off. It had run for about another day and night, but started crashing again this morning at 6 am, and has continued to run some then crash (actually, not blue screens, just hard freezes) throughout the day (before any of this was done).

Also, in case I haven't said it enough, THANK YOU for all the help so far. I had posted to the razer forums, LTT forums, reddit, cyberpowerpc forums, sent in a support ticket to razer and CPP, and none of them have given me any meaningful dialog or replies. LTT just told me its probably hardware and to contact the computer assembler, and not a single other source has even responded, save for when I called the razer support phone line directly. So thanks a bunch! I feel like I'm one step closer to solving this problem with every back and forth!

Further update:

It did end up crashing with no razer drivers running, "Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap", still ntoskrnl.exe. I'm was going to go ahead and uninstall the NVIDIA Broadcast stuff, but it has an update, and I haven't touched it since I got the PC, so I'll see if updating that fixes things and let it run again.

Further Further Update:

Uninstalled NVIDIA Broadcast, made sure those drivers were no longer running, did another driver verifier run, and it still crashed (though it lasted maybe another 30 seconds), this time with a SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error. BlueScreenView lists these files as the suspected culprits:

ntoskrnl.exe
VerifierExt.sys
HIDCLASS.SYS

I will say, after the blue screen from the nvidia broadcast stuff, it said it had to rebuild the C drive before booting. I didn't run an SFC /scannow after, so I'll do that now, but I'm starting to be lost on what all this is pointing to, as it now is only pointing to Microsoft Windows files.
SFC /scannow got stuck at 65%, so I ran a Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, then the sfc completed and found no problems. I'm off to sleep, I will leave the PC on and see if it survives the night, though I am doubtful.

Final update: It crashed as soon as I walked away. I will leave it off for the night. Letting it rest seems to make it better (which points to a temp thing?, but cpu temps are at around 48c, mobo temps anywhere from 15 to 47 at the cpu socket, gpu is at 50c, m.2 is at 51, and hdd is at 35 (those may be backwards, unsure which is which).

nvrtxvad64v.sys
can't say i seen that file name before.

I have an RTX card, I don't have that file loaded. might just be 3000 series

I should have got you to do this by now
Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

Open Windows File Explorer

Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop

Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows

Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder

Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)

Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

hidclass.sys used by PC for mouse/keyboard. really looks to me like the USB devices are problems, might not just be the drivers. I would suggest using a spare keyboard, removing synapse and see if you still crash.

You weren't to know but people on the Cyberpower forums suggest you don't use the standard PSU but we can only hope its okay.
At least Asus list that board, Asrock don't support the cyberpower boards they make

try using the cyberpower keyboard just for now.

Alright, will do. I've grabbed the included keyboard and unplugged the other one. As for the dump files, should I switch it from automatic dump files to minidumps? I have gone ahead and done that, so I will go ahead and force a crash with driver verifier and see what results it brings.

Edit: With the cyberpower keyboard, it still crashed on the driver verifier, pointing to the same files as before. As instructed, I changed it to minidumps, so the files in the zip include one minidump and various normal ones.
Here is the link.

Edit2: Here is a bonus one that occurred just a few seconds ago, au naturel, so not a forced one with driver verifier. Because I switched over to minidumps (I assume), BlueScreenView doesn't highlight what the OS points to as suspected faulting files, but the top one in the list is still ntoskrnl.exe. This at least verifies it happens with an alternate keyboard as well, without forcing one via driver verifier.

Hi, I ran the dump files through the debugger and got the following information: https://jsfiddle.net/vabn1w08/show This link is for anyone wanting to help. You do not have to view it. It is safe to "run the fiddle" as the page asks.

Its normal fine, but not for it to want to access the same location about 50 times in a row before giving up. So the drive wasn't responding at all.

As for audio, I almost exclusively use the Sound Blaster for audio output (digital headphones connected to it), and for input, I use a usb dongle to connect a modmic wireless. As far as I know, I am not particularly using the realtek stuff. My second monitor is technically a TV, with speakers, connected via HDMI. I haven't used it for audio in a long time, but its there for if my headphones die/need a charge, or as a backup.

Oh man, i really did have a headache earlier, reading your specs I realised I had already posted them a few posts up.

try running this on the NVME, it should have tests in it - https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?p=279
any idea what brand 2nd hdd is?

so realtek not really used, just there. HDMI not really used but a backup.

can you run this for me, it creates a zip file. Upload zip and it might give me an insight as to which audio device is at fault. Might not but worth a try - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/pages/bsodcollectionapp/

Alright, here is the sysnative zip. I had run it previously, but reran it to collect new data.

No idea on the brand of HDD, other than the name Windows reports: ST3000DM007-1WY10G.
I downloaded the WD stuff, theres a new firmware version for the SSD, so I'll grab that if possible(?) then find and run the tests.
Edit: I'll hold on the firmware update for now, since it risks full data loss. Running the extended test now.

No worries on the specs -- made it easy for me to grab, too!

Your firefly mousepad is showing as a problem device in System Info/Components/Problem Devices.
not really audio unless its got audio out.
you sure have had a lot of errors in the last few months.
I don't see anything helpful but I have asked someone else who is sometimes around to look at the file as well. Interesting test to see how often he is here.

Leave it to Razer to make an LED a problem.
Yeah, lots of them. 🙁
As for the SMART tests, both the quick and extended tests just say operation failed right away. I can view SMART data though. Is there a way to export it?
And thanks for all the help again!

If you have a bad NVME, since its failing tests as soon as started - then it might not be audio at fault. It might be the nvme. if the storage is bad, anything stored on it will also be bad. or go that way.

Does SMART show any signs of failure? I mean, the tests should work.

Screenshot? upload to imgur and share link.

I saw a post where someone said they ran the short test fine, but after trying to run the extended, both report failure. I tried restarting the PC, but both still fail. Is there an alternative program to run tests?

can try crystaldiskinfo but really it just shows SMART scores. Crystaldiskmark on my WD hdd shows 3 columns, current, worst, threshold. but if i run it on my NVME its just showing 1 column. So what you get may vary.
I don't know how to decypher the results you got as most tests like that also have a column that says ok

2nd hdd, starts with ST? Seagate - https://www.seagate.com/au/en/support/downloads/seatools/seatools-win-master/
but i don't think its the problem.

I found this post here on reddit, where someone had a similar issue to me. Mine was running at first, but ended with an error, and now both immediately resolve in errors. I also found this thread on WD forums talking about a bug at the time that caused similar issues; in it, someone mentions an alternative program, so I will look into that.

Edit: I just tested the WD short diagnostic test, out of curiosity, and it ran fine with no errors. After, I tried to run the extended one, and it got to 20% before failing and showing this error. Now, when I try to run either test, it immediately fails to that error, with no further information given. This is what happened earlier as well. I updated the firmware to the latest version for the SSD, and it still auto-fails both tests.

Edit2: The Seagate tool, all basic tests passed on the HDD, including the SMART stuff, and it let me do a long generic test on the SSD, which also passed.

Edit 3: The other program talked in that thread was the older, now deprecated alternative WD had for the Dashboard Utility. Any diagnostics require all files/processes to be stopped, which isn't really doable on the system drive without running it before windows starts up, which I don't think it supports. It does show that the HDD passes the SMART diagnostics, and the SSD's SMART diagnostics are "not available".

i would be tempted to contact WD support and see what they suggest. As I said, I never seen errors like 1 & 6 before, the ssd wasn't responding to windows, now it also doesn't work with their own tests.

I tried to explain it to one of their live chat people and they just suggested I get it RMA'd because of the results of the SMART test saying it failed. I think they didn't quite listen to the whole thing or look at the page fault bit, but I will attempt to get in contact with someone from CyberPowerPC (They still haven't responded to my support ticket I sent them 10 days ago)..

Finally got into a chat with CyberPowerPC tech support, they suggest I move the m.2 to the second m.2 slot first, to see if its a seating/slot issue, and if that doesn't work, try a clean windows install. If all that fails, they'll replace the SSD. I don't plan on doing the clean windows install, but I can try moving it to the second slot and seeing if that fixes it.
