For me, yes.

I bought a E6600 in Jul 06 to replace a dying Athlon X2 3200. I had decided on an AM2 5000, but because avaibility was nil, and prices were exhorbitant at the time ($500-$600) I went with the cheaper ($359) faster E6600.

I had no plans to build any other systems for at least 2 years.

Then the price cuts started coming.

Since then I have built 2 AMD systems, one to replace a parted out emulator and the other as a dedicated DVR. I would not have built these sytems had it not been for AMD's price cut making the costs so attractive.

With prices so low I've been tempted to build a cheap 3600+ system, or after the next round of Intel price cuts to buy a T7200 (if they lower notebook prices, which they may not) and build a system around my Core Duo.

The option, No, Im waiting for more cuts may have been incorrect. In your case if you didnt have any plans, but might have changed that after more cuts, no would be correct, but if someone was planning to build, but has been holding off, the correct choice would have been "Yes, but Im waiting for prices to go lower"

I was going to wait for the E6420 with 4mb L2, coming soon.

Then I was going to get an X2 3600+ last night to replace the Celeron D 360 I recently sold.

Then I read that AMD will be dropping prices again in less than 3 weeks.

I recently read that prices on the QX6600 are going to drop to $266 in Q3. I'd like to ultimately step up to the Quad core, but I've got to wait until October to get it at a price I like. That leaves me all summer to figure out what I'd like to get "in between".

The Celeron was nice. Problem is that after owning 2 dual core comps, I've become rather spoiled. I'm not happy unless I've got 2 or 3 apps running.

So now I'm stuck in Limbo....suffering with only my E6600 to play with. I need the next couple of weeks to fly by, to finally figure out what my "interim choice" will be. If prices drop on the X2 45nm's like I've heard, It would be nice to pick up another dual core and mobo for around $150 to goof around with as my HTPC.

So, to answer your question....hell yea, the price cuts are messing with my purchase plans.

P.S. You guys do realize I was kidding when I said I was "suffering" with my C2D? I'm having a blast, but would like to be playing/learning on an alternate setup. 8)

Definitely. I'll be building a new gaming PC and I'm waiting on the next round of CPU price cuts before committing. I initially planed to get an E4300/8800GTS in February, but pricecuts and product refreshes made me delay my purchase.

I was slightly disappointed at the launch price of the E4300 as it was a bit higher than I expected, being very close to the E6300 price, in fact initial price gouging meant it cost more than the E6300 for a few weeks! :x

When it was announced the E4300 would get a $50 pricecut come April, and also due to the (as of then) impending release of the 320MB 8800GTS, I decided to wait.

Ideally R600 would've been released by now to push down the prices of the 8800 series cards and to actually provide a choice(!) in DX10 GPUs, but of course 'AMDTI' keeps pushing back the release time after time.

ok ok I did it .I got an x2 3600 brisbane for 90 dollars and free shipping from the egg.
The weekend special ended on sunday and the price went up 4 dollars.I saw 90 and I was like 8O 8O 8O need dual core now!!!
Yeah, if you're still using a single-core and don't really feel the need for dual-core at this point-in-time... it's pretty hard not to jump on the dual-core bandwagon now. If you can afford a cheap processor, you can pretty-much afford a low-end dual-core(provided your current mobo/RAM is compatable). :) :) 2 weeks ago, i bought an ASRock 775Dual VSTA w/a PD915running @ 3446 right now(i'm impatient) til i can get an E4300/E4400(B-day present after Apr.22 price-cuts). The PD will be good as a back-up..i always like to have a back-up, the way i mess around with things. 😳

i have been thinking of getting myself a little home server maybe built around a x2 3600 or maybe a e4300 depending on which is ultimatly cheapest (based on all parts)

i was initially going to do this after Q3 (my proposed time for gaming rig) but with the wait until then i may do it in the interim ill just see how my finances go.

Waiting for the $500 quad cores to replace my E6600. I'm keeping my 3060, X6800 and QX though... that is, until Penryn comes. :)

Dude, WTF does a college student need with that many high end CPUs? Are you running a pron site on the side or something?
