Yes, I fixed it already, it happened when I installed the drivers from the CD that came with the 4650, apparently if you are not hooked up to an HD monitor then you do not want to install the HD audio portion of the driver that comes with the CD.
follow steps:
click on start button
open the control panel
open sound and audio devices
you will see mute and "plac volume icon in task bar" just check the box and apply then closed you will see now.
That's the advice I got before, but when you go to open audio devices, it shows no audio devices detected. The HD audio was taking over the system audio. When I removed the HD audio driver, the system driver showed up again.
