Question Hdmi to vga cable not working

I got a new second monitor it only has VGA so I bought a hdmi to vga cable (full cable not adapter), I used this on my pc graphics card and my pc recognised the monitor but the monitor is saying no signal, now this would be ok with me but the cable works with my laptop and the graphics card works with my other lead and my main monitor cable

HDMI to VGA cables are hit and miss. If you just purchased the new second display, you should return it for one that has an actual digital input (HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort).

most likely this is an issue with a non-active adapter.

what gpu is it? and what cable did you buy?

Can you show link to product page of the cable, you're using?
HDMI to VGA requires active signal conversion. Simple cable can't do it, signal adapter is necessary. Your cable might be fake.

it's a rtx 2070 and the cable is a benfei hdmi to vga

the main thing I can't get my head around is that I plugged the hdmi in to my laptop and it recieves perfect it's a clear image and everything, that makes me think it's something software related to my pc but that's just speculation

Hey just wanted to update this for more information I've just changed the generic PNP driver to the driver to the actual monitor and it still doesn't show anything I'm beyond confused at this point

Try different resolutions, different refresh rates.
