Question Hello i just need more help,i have gigabyte z790 gaming x ax ddr 5 motherboard and i cannot set gear 1 in my RAM

I cannot set gear 1 in my RAM the option is only auto/which is gear 2,gear 2 and gear 4 .how am i supposed to do

My spec is :
Processor : i7 14700f intel
Mobo : z790 gaming x ax ddr 5
RAM : corsair vengeance RGB 16×2 32 Gb CL 36 6000 MHZ ddr 5
Psu : 650 w 80+ normal
gpu : zotac rtx 4070 super twin edge oc white edition

Bios : F9

Current bios is F11B, so it might be worth updating that, so we can rule it out. Also, make sure to clear CMOS (CLRTC) after the bios update to ensure it takes properly. The bios also has the recommended 'Intel Default Setting'.

Is your ram running in XMP?

It might have something to do with your mem clock/dram frequency. As I understand it, have a 1:1 ratio with mem clock/fram freq means it's gear 1 mode. A 1:2 ratio means it's gear 2.

Have a look at the options in your mobo.

It cannot run xmp,it will BSOD because my psu dont have enough power pin to supply to my motherboard as my technician says

I will try to search in my bios.a local technician in my country says my mobo need more power pin to run xmp and gear 1 which i need to upgrade my power supply.idk if he is true or not

I think gear 1 will increase my perfomance especially in cs 2 and dota 2 .my psu is digital alliance 650w 80+normal

Looking at the GN video and some internet reddits, it seems the difference between Gear1 and gear 2, is less than 5%. It's not worth the hassle.

Yes, it does impact latency, but not like what you might be thinking.

right, so the memory controller can be clocked to 2000MHz max (4000MHz DDR)
which rules out DDR5 entirely as they start at 4800 (2400 real), meaning only gear2 and gear 4 are available
if you really weant gear 1, swap mainboard with DDR4 as intel doesnt support gear 1 with DDR5
DDR4 wont improve your performance with gear1 anyway

issue with XMP...that ram should work wonders with 700 serie chipset, no matter revision...are sticks slotted in A2 and B2 slots?
