Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy a prebuilt gaming PC with a budget of around £1,500, and I’ve been comparing a few options. I’m hoping to get some advice on which one is the best choice in terms of gaming performance, upgradability, and value for money.

Here are the systems I’ve been considering so far:

CyberPowerPC Luxe (4070 Super)

PCSpecialist Flux 300

SCAN Aurum 5700X / RTX 5070 Ti

Would love to hear your thoughts!
Any advice, rankings, or alternative recommendations would be super appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

What games do you play?

Most games and apps have some listing of required system specs.

Usually the form of "minimal", "recommended", and "best".

You do not want minimal and you do want as much "best" as you can afford with respect to the budget.

Read requirements carefully.

Since your main interest appears to be gaming, I'd opt for the 5070 because it has 16GB VRAM. You might find the 4060 8GB a bit weak for some modern game titles.

I'd steer clear of Currys because they don't specify the manufacturer and model number of the PSU, so you'll probably get some generic "Gold" unit with medicre warranty which might not have enough capacity if you upgrade your GPU in two year's time. Currys don't mention the make and part number of the 16GB system RAM, just calling it 3600MT/s. It might even be a single 16GB stick running in slower Single Channel mode.

Buy from a UK supplier who specialises in building gaming PCs. Currys sell dishwashers and toasters too. For £1500, I'd be looking for a system with at least 32GB DDR5, not 16GB DDR4.

I also regard any system with a single 1TB M.2 NVMe drive as being too small for modern games. You should leave around 20% free to maintain SSD performance, so with circa 100GB for Windows, that only leaves 700GB free for games on a 1TB drive. Is that enough for your needs?

Check how many free M.2 slots are available on the mobo. You can always fit more SSDs for extra capacity, but a 2TB or 4TB system drive might be a better idea if available as an option.

It is probably too late, but if you haven't bought a computer yet, i wouldl suggest to put it together route. Pre-builts have their advantages, but also some disadvantages of course. You can watch some of the videos on YouTube of gamers nexus channel, for example, and/or some others.
Maybe you have a neighbor/friend/acquaintance, who can assemble for you the system, even you might be able to do it if you're willing to try. Or local computer shop can probably do it (for a fee). I think this way you would get better parts, and better overall computer.
