Hi everyone, having a bit of holiday pc issues and wanted to bounce some things on you guys.

So, pc died while i was away, came back to it shut down and trying to turn it on powered it for about 0.5 sec (with a slight static noise and the front led kind of flickering (no beeps)) and shut down again.

I proceeded to get everything disconnected from the MB to try to narrow it down, i was left with only the MB power cord and the CPU power (and fan) inserted and it still did the same thing altho if i tried a 2nd time to power up the pc it would actually start beeping (and constant static noise from the MB) endlessly.

Taking out the CPU power cable (and reinstalling all other components) the pc would stay on (constant MB static noise still present) although not boot or show snything on the monitor, but the leds on the RAM were on and fans were working and no beeps.

I’m certain something died in there but i’m unsure what, i’m thinking MB or PSU although also considering it might be the CPU. Any help is highly appreciated :3 happy holidays!

Worth adding that i reset my MB, i also do not have spares to test, sadly, apart from the GPU

CPU is least likely suspect but PSU is with Mb (probably VRM) very close.
"
Taking out the CPU power cable" smacks of bad VRM component.

Thanks for your two cents on this much much appreciated. Think i’ll order both. I’m curious, does the static sound i told you about make you think MB over PSU?

Sound is defo coming from somewhere on the MB.

Hope you have a great Xmas! 😁
