[SOLVED] Help. gpu issues

originally had a pc with an r9 285 running perfectly fine when in the middle of my csgo game my monitor went blank. I searched around and realized that when i would plug in my hdmi cable into the motherboard slot everything would run fine, with the exception of the gpu not being identified. I tried plugging the cable back into the gpu and would be greeted by my monitor telling me there was no source. I assumed it was a faulty gpu, or some sort of bottlenecking issue seeing as i had an i7 8700. Saved up money and got an rtx 2060 but after plugging it in and getting everything in place i had the exact same issue. Any advice on what i should do or what parts need replacement?

well first thing i would do is to try pluging in the hdmi to the mother board again and update the bios
