Hi, so I have the m271V2 gigabyte monitor and a 4080super. After a windows update, and driver update (I have tried rolling back both updates and drivers multiple times) my monitor and games default to 4k. Now even when I change it to 1440p game image quality is as though I was rendering a non-native blurry jagged version of 1440p. I noticed it after i tried to play bf1, with image quality being poor and lines across my screen. I haven't had lines across my screen with other games, but I have had really poor image quality. Now, when i do a clean uninstallation of the drivers for my GPU, when i restart my pc, it automatically instals an august version of my drivers, despite me not having those present in my documents or downloads? so i dont know where its downloading this from. So im thinking its a couple possibilities?:
- somehow a faulty display port cable - a weird driver clash I cant solve - windows 11 issue - graphics card issue

Even when no gpu drivers are installed yet straight after boot from clean uninstallation, my screen outputs to a forced 4k image without reason. I am truly stuck as its come out of nowhere and is bizarre. I have tried reseating cables, sfc/scannow, aa couple dif GPU drivers, uninstalling games, forcing resolution in nvidia app and windows (hasn't made a dif all games boot to 4k)

My current cable is a silver one, not a gold, I once had an issue booting an old pc, where the culprit was a low quality cable connected to a hard drive - could this be an issue with display port?

If anyone can help me ill be eternally grateful!

Using DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually installing the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?

Did you install the OS in offline mode?

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

MSI a850GF Gold+ PSU
Fractal North Case
ak620 cooler

latest bios

everything is less than a year old, as i replaced my PC in august after being burgled. and yes i set up my pc without wifi, as i had moved flats at the time too :/

ps: all devices I own have had the latest drivers installed that i can find, so monitor. gpu windows etc al are on latest version

Try pressing the Windows key and typing Advanced System Settings then Hardware and then Device Installation Settings. If its set to Yes then try changing it to No which should prevent Windows from installing the old August version of your drivers.

hi thanks for the reply, I had a look, it seems it was already selected on NO. Maybe my only option is gonna be to clean reinstall windows if i cant manage a solution :/
