Hi - wonder if any of you guys can help me to help a friend, who's
having problems with a new Netgear Wireless Router, Model WGR614V5

He can connect to the internet fine from all three machines on his
network. He can browse and google away on all three to his hearts
content, and even receive e-mail....

As soon as he connects one machine to Bnet, he either gets A) Realm
Down, or if he's *just* rebooted the router he can B) sometimes
establish a single connection. If he tries to connect a second
machine, it *always* gets realm down no matter what. Either or any
machine can connect first time, albeit haphazardly, but never two (or
even three) concurrently.

Now - before we get into the arguments about CD keys etc, let me say
that he has three valid copies of LOD, and has played extensivly with
other members of this group besides myself, so he *is* known to some
of the group- he just doesn't use newsnet - hence my asking the
question. Until yesterday all worked perfectly well, until an engineer
from his ISP came to replace the old router ( a version 4) which had
not exhibited this problem, but was being replaced due to it's ability
to intermittently reboot itself.

We suspect a upnp or port triggering setting, but I'm not familiar
with the netgear kit. We've checked the port triggering table, and
added an entry for port 4000 (a 'starcraft' entry already existed for
6112).

Anything else anyone can think of would be worth a try, if only to
stick the proverbial two fingers up to the ISP's support department,
who've admitted they don't know what's causing it, and have arranged
to reinstall his old router on Thursday.

Cheers

Tim

If you only play on Bnet you shouldn't need a trigger at all. Have you
tried removing all Bnet entries from the router?
