Help Pc to slow

I have a Hp XT936 and it had ME installed when I bought it... I upgraded to
Xp and it is so slow. I can not run moe than one program at a time and it
takes forever for anything to load. I have defrag,cleaded my disk and just
about everything else I can think of and it is still slow

If you are running XP with ME-era hardware you may, indeed, find that your
computer runs slowly. For example, you want 512MB of memory for XP. But even
that will only take you so far if you have a slow hard disk and a slow video
card. XP is also a much larger program than ME, so you likely have much less
free space on your hard disk than formerly.

Did you defragment your hard disk after upgrading? Is the rest of your
software (including drivers) 100% compatible with XP? Is your computer free
of viruses and spyware? Could you have fewer programs starting with Windows?

Hi, I have 1GHZ processor, 128 mb Mem , 40 gb with about 95% free space on
my hard drive. I have done the defrag, disk clean, scan disk and norton 05
virus scan
And the modem has a sticker on it that says it is XP ready

For XP to run anything like decently, you should look at a processor as good
as and preferably better than a PIII Celeron 700, at least 512mb RAM, at
least a 20gb hard drive, and at least a 32mb graphics card.. even then, you
will have to turn off all XP eye candy stuff, and make coffee and have a
cigarette while you run anti-spyware.. that is the way things are, because
you have placed a large fancy body on a small powerplant..

You need more RAM desperately.. look to getting 512mb..
