Okay so i want to upgrade but i need help.
Im still using my first build.
Specs:
1070ti
I5 8500
500gb 970 pro
2tb seagate
650w psu gold
Z370 d3 mobo
32gb corsair vengance 3000mhz

I just bought a 570x corsair case and i feel dumb putting the same parts in it and want to do something new i was thinking either 3800x or 9700k. I want to overclock i was an idiot at first and idk why i bought a 8500 to start with. Im using an apc agon 165hz 1440p g sync monitor with an ips panel and i feel dumb with a 1070ti even tho it runs great. And idk how i should go about my upgrade. I want 2070super but isnt nvidia gunna release the new series soon? So should i just wait and what about motherboard is it smarter to get z390 board and then just pop the 8500 in it until i get 9600k or 9700k.
Also i was gunna sell my occulus rift s and the 1070ti and 8500 and the z370p d3 mobo. I figure for all those parts i can get around 800. Im just stuck on how i should do this because i just feel like building something deep down inside i have nice rgb stuff in my case and its in junk case apex 21n. I also dont want to waste money but i want nicer build that wont need upgraded every year i think my ram is future proof and also do i need a new psu to run all this i have evga 650 GQ so idk what to do here. Say when 2170 next gen nvidia comes will it be okay probably? Im not gunna get a 2080ti or 2180ti because its just too much but i want my monitor to be more usefull. Thanks for reading and helping

Okay i see what you say i think thats a good idea. And i like the 1070ti but its not enough to max my monitors 165hz refresh rate and 2070 super is good one but is it better to wait until new gpu comes out

Depends on the game and the settings I suppose. You don't have to play every game at ultra settings (in fact it's recommend NEVER doing that). Your CPU could get in the way at times also.

Definitely wait till next gen for upgrade.

I would encourage you to focus more on enjoying playing games than what the specs of your PC is. You don't need the best latest and greatest equipment to enjoy gaming.

Okay thanks i listen and get it next time it comes out. What about this i like the 9700k but its alot of money if i have 8500 right now that works really good still what is next processor i should get is hyperthreading important for me? or can i get away with a 9600k? I just worry about games in the future in case they need more. I feel scam by intel because only have 8c/8t while amd 150 dollar processor have 6c/12t

Don't bother going i5 to i5 like that. Not enough improvement to justify the cost.

I'm pretty sure 10th gen will be a new socket (not compatible with your mobo)

One thread is not equal to one core. You also need to be doing something to use all the tons of cores being sold these days (gaming, online, streaming, etc etc at the same time)
